Here’s a quick showcase of the exciting activities that the RPG Foundation has been involved in during the past quarter, touching the lives of many needy people, at our different locations across .

Due to the new Companies Act many of our programmes have been recast. We will now be doing CSR at three different levels i.e. around our plant locations, in the industries we operate in and a flagship program of the RPG Group for universal social impact.

Pehlay Akshar

We have a brand new logo and a new worldclass website to go with it. Check out our website www.pehlayakshar.org coming soon!

We have grown our programme and are now teaching 8,500 children in 55 schools. Come and sit in one of our Pehlay Akshar classes near you. We are 80G certified thus any donations to Pehlay Akshar is tax exempted. Please donate on our website when we go live.

We are creating a multiplier effect by training government school teachers. Let us know on our website if you would like to help.

We have recently launched The Paper Boat Project especially for RPG employees. It is a one-on-one mentorship programme where the employee will be paired with a Pehlay Akshar child. We encourage you to become a mentor!

CEAT has launched a unique Women Empowerment Programme – Swayam. The programme focuses on Promoting Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment by training underprivileged women in driving skills to enhance their livelihood across various sectors like cab transportation, home care, patient care, school bus driver, etc. Besides the driving skill training, women undergo training in allied skills like self defense, basic spoken English, customer service skills, grooming, first aid, defensive driving skills and training in mechanics to make them stand out as a professional, polished woman driver. Currently, 35 women from the first batch are undergoing training and the second and third batch are being mobilised for the programme. We hope to see our Swayam-trained women driving cabs and other motor vehicles across soon!!!

NDLM Zensar has announced the setting up of two NDLM (National Digital Literacy Mission) centres –in Hyderabad and . It’s first NDLM centre opened in Hyderabad in August 2014 and the second in Pune in early October. The first batch has already Students graduated from the Hyderabad Centre and on 30th September, pose with the 41 students from this batch became the first in the country NASSCOM Foundation team to have gone through the Digital Literacy assessment held post taking the by NIELET (National Institute of Electronics & Information country’s first Digital Literacy Technology), the relevant central government authority. This assessment is a significant milestone as it paves the way for the 2020 goal set by the government, of a digitally literate India.

School NDLM has a vision to empower at least one person per children explore the household with digital literacy skills by 2020, and is expected computer at to touch the lives of more than 250 million individuals over the NDLM centre, Pune the next few years. The project aims at helping adults with by NIELET low technological literacy to develop the skills they need to interact in an increasingly digital world, thereby increasing the opportunity for development and economic viability.

2 Saksham Our multi-skill development programme focuses on providing vocational training to women for alternate livelihoods e.g. tailoring, nursing & providing technical skills training and education to youth for employability.

3 Jeevan Our integrated community project—Jeevan, focuses on improving all-round quality of life in the areas of clean drinking water, overall health, sanitation and nutrition- based interventions amongst others. These have been identified as critical local need gaps in the Need Assessment Study at the communities surrounding our plant locations, conducted by Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS).
