Clothes are our basic need like food and shelter. We need clothes to protect ourselves and our body from dust, heat, cold ,rain and insect bites. Earlier, human beings used leaves and skin of animals to cover their body. Nowadays, clothes are made using three different sources-

1. PLANTS – Cotton clothes and jute clothes are made using some plant parts.

2. ANIMALS- Woollen clothes and silk clothes are made from animals. We get wool from sheep and silk from silkworms.

3. CHEMICALS- Rayon, nylon, polyester, etc are made from chemicals.

We need different clothes for different weather or season.

➢ We should wear light cotton clothes in summer to stay cool and comfortable in hot season. ➢ We should wear woollen clothes to keep ourselves warm in winters and protect ourselves from cold. ➢ To protect ourselves from rain, we should wear waterproof clothes like a raincoat. It protects us from getting wet and helps us to stay dry when we go out.

Different nations have different traditional dresses. It represents the culture of the state.

Some people who do different work wear a set of special clothes called uniform
