Our proposal is to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain these features for a period of 25 years after which time they will become the property of the City. We are further proposing to lease the park land at Lake Kennedy at an annual amount of $1/year for the first five (5) years and then an amount equal to $1 /person/bed/night for years six (6) through 25 along with other considerations to be spelled out further in this proposal. The Project South Florida Canoe Kayak Club is proposing to develop a state-of-art paddlesports destination based around a holistic approach to athlete training. This multi-faceted project, located in Cape Coral, FL; will feature proven services, pre-existing programs, and established management practices in conjunction with proven and innovative training elements all aimed at providing a one-of-a-kind experience in a unique facility tailored to the needs of paddlesport athletes globally. -

INTRODUCTION 1.1 What is team BEDS&LUTON? team BEDS&LUTON is the County Sports Partnership (CSP) for Bedfordshire and Luton and the local driving force to encourage people of all ages to become involved in sport and physical activity. The CSP aims to provide opportunities for clubs, coaches and volunteers to develop, and is central in helping to achieve the government target of a 1% rise in participation each year until 2010. The key to the success of the CSP is joined up thinking and team BEDS&LUTON should encompass many local partners to ensure achievement in delivering its objectives. There must be strong links with schools, colleges and universities, the health sector, community safety and regeneration departments, as well as local authorities, National Governing Bodies of sport, community clubs and voluntary agencies. 1.2 The Importance of Volunteers in Sport Research has shown that volunteers contribute 1.2 billion hours of time each year to sport, and have the equivalent value of almost 1 million full time workers, at a cost of approximately £14 billion1. team BEDS&LUTON recognises that without a quality volunteer workforce, sport would not be able to thrive. The volunteer sector makes up over 80% of the workforce according to MORI findings. -

Of course the Kiwis take on Samoa on Saturday night at Mt Smart, and that one should be a good game too. League legend Olsen Filipaina is taking the ball out, which is pretty cool given he has represented the Kiwis and Samoa. The game I am looking forward to is the Kiwis v Tonga in Hamilton, because there is not going to be a lot of love lost when those two sides meet, after everything that has gone on. Before a ball is kicked I have the Kiwis lunch at the Ellerslie Events Centre to look forward to on Friday. When Pete asked if I would take it on with Gordon Gibbons and Tony Feasey, I foolishly said yes, not want- ing to let Pete down. But in truth Gordon has been amazing and we have an incredible line-up of Kiwis greats taking to the stage, and players with a long history of World Cup and test glory in attendance. I have been to several of Peter’s Kiwis lunches and enjoyed every one of them. -

It also provides examples of sporting heritage programmes currently offered to support the curriculum in museum and sport settings across the country The physicality and accessibility of sport cuts through barriers of language, religion, class and culture. There is growing evidence that sporting heritage, taught as part of the school curriculum, is a very effective medium for motivating under-achieving pupils. Whilst the main academic focus of sporting heritage is history – most pertinently local history – it can also provide an effective springboard to cross-curricular learning and to sports participation. Many of our sports clubs were founded in the 19th century and, from Premier League football clubs to village cricket and rugby clubs, are often the best examples of living history in their communities, regularly attracting more people onto their premises and more interest in their fortunes than any other local organisations of comparable age. -
