Buccaneer Tradition Bucs In The Postseason * The Bucs qualfied for the 1996 NCAA I-AA Playoffs after finishing the regular season 9-2 overall and 7-1 in the South- ern Conference. In the first round, eighth-ranked ETSU defeated the 14th-ranked Villanova Wildcats, 35-29, in Johnson City, Tenn. Senior quarterback Greg Ryan was 20-37 for 237 yards and two touchdowns. In the quarterfinal round, #2 Montana defeated the Bucs 44-14 despite Ryan’s 313 passing yards and two touch- downs.

Bowl Winner

* On Dec. 13, 1969, ETSU won the Grantland Rice Bowl, 34-14, against Terry Bradshaw-led Louisiana Tech in Baton Rouge, La.
