Something else I enjoyed was the churches there.

4 The churches in the Ukraine are ab- solutely beautiful. From the artwork to the holy doors. They have beauti- ful architecture all together. In the Ukraine the churches are older and honestly built nicer. The artwork on the ceiling along with the chandelier is absolutely stunning. The holy doors are some- thing that I wish we had in Canada, because they add a lot of character and spiritual meaning to the church. Every church we walked in was different in some way and they were all breathtaking. They left me with this great feeling and wanting to see more. Even though I understood

little to no ukrainian, I felt like in church I didn’t need to understand the language.

5 The monasteries were also the same. It was amazing to see differ- ent monasteries be- cause that was some- thing I wouldn’t nor- mally see in Canada. The monasteries were beautiful and each was made differently, which was nice to see. I en- joyed seeing how mani- cured the grounds were and having access to holy water there. The pilgrimage that we went on was definitely one of my highlights. To see 80,000 peo- ple all in one place for one purpose was astonishing.

They were all gathered to proclaim God.As the evening progressed, we had prayers with candles, and to see all of the people gathered with their candles was beautiful.

6 The liturgy the next day was hands down one of the best I’ve attended. The atmosphere was breath taking. The whole experience at that pil- grimage was very indescribable. To be able to see my culture was some- thing I will never forget. I can guar- antee that I will be going back. It’s a beautiful country with lots to see, I encourage everyone to go. Megan Morant
