Hello Neighbour shines the spotlight on a number of Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Centre programs and activities, and introduces you to the people involved behind the scenes. Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Centre run a large range of fun, inclusive activities and events that bring the community together. The centres are friendly and welcoming while creating neighbourly connections. Our centres are also used by local organisations and small businesses to run their classes, seminars and functions. We hire out a number of halls, meeting rooms and commercial kitchens at competitive prices. Supporting Community – Creating Connections is a pilot program in Bayside aimed at creating a buddy program within existing local groups to help Acrylic Painting: combat social isolation and loneliness, especially after a long and challenging Hampton Community Centre, lockdown in Melbourne. The program provides groups with a resource pack to Tuesdays 9am and Thursdays 1pm support them to identify existing members to become buddies. The buddies will welcome new and returning members to their group, explain the practical arrangements, introduce them to other members and share their enthusiasm for activities they participate in. We have facilitated two information sessions, which provided a lively opportunity to share ideas and experiences, hear more about the program and ask questions. The program will be evaluated and it is hoped it will (along with a simple, flexible and easy-to-use resource pack) be available to all groups across Bayside.
