Full Length Album "Usual Suspects: Season III)
8 PIECE HIP-HOP COLLECTIVE BIOGRAPHY Formed in a basement in Ottawa, Ontario, in late 2012, BLAKDENIM blends genres like no Canadian act today. The group fuses hip-hop, funk, rock and soul with lyrical content that ranges from identity issues to daily issues, like picking yourself up after a bad day, perseverance, self- esteem and hope. Influenced by artists like The Roots to Earth, Wind and Fire, there’s no shortage of musical expertise with the line-up consisting of an emcee, female vocalist, 2 trumpets, saxophone, bass guitar, guitar, keys and drums. They soon became known as an incredible live act not to be missed within the Nation’s Capital across a spectrum of music genre fans alike. As finalists in the Live 88.5 Big Money Shot radio competition in 2013, the band was awarded a small sum of money that allowed them to record their debut EP. “Vanguard(EN)” was independently released in 2014, and made top hip-hop charts on college radio and selective rotation on commercial FM stations. Their professional music videos quickly gained traction with thousands of views each. Serious media buzz came from a highly successful club tour in February 2015, and well-attended showcases at Indie Week, where they were a top finalist. BLAKDENIM was destined to become a festival favourite across Ontario and Quebec and soon found them-selves opening for iconic artists like Charles Bradley and Karim Ouellet. BLAKDENIM continues to prove that Ottawa is more than capable of putting out truly elite talent. For an emerging band to have been invited to play these festivals and showcases, including Canadian Music Week, indicates the great potential for career longevity that major festival promoters and industry recognize in them. -

A former member of SpaceGhostPurrp's Raider Klan , Denzel Curry is one of the precursors of the new generation of electro coming out of Florida. Now joined by such wild men as Smokepurrp, Ski Mask Da Slump God or the late XXXTentacion, Denzel has created a complex mix, which has been much-covered by his peers. To sum it up, his music is a mixture of very technical rap in the tradition of Memphis and the Three 6 Mafia and a rather more elevated psychedelic tendency taken from Outkast and the Dungeon Family. A pure product of the SoundCloud generation, he made waves with Nostalgic 64 (2013) and then Imperial (2016). At the age of just 23, Denzel Curry shows a disarming maturity and an unflagging versatility on TA13oo , his most ambitious album to date. TA13OO. The South Florida rapper carves out his own lane within the genre known as SoundCloud rap, displaying considerable versatility as he channels the pain and confusion of youth. Featured Tracks: In the chaotic arena that is SoundCloud rap, Denzel Curry has etched out his own distinct realm. Presumably he doesn’t mind being tagged as a SoundCloud rapper, as murky and hard to define as that term is. It was just in May that Curry went to the mattresses to uphold his version of the genre’s history, using Twitter and interviews to torpedo Smokepurpp’s claim to have fathered the movement. -
God's Favorite Customer by Father John Misty
Father John Misty – “God’s Favorite Customer” The artist behind the ego: Josh Tillman, mostly known by his performance nom de guerre Father John Misty, is a Maryland born indie folk/rock singer; although he began his musical career as a drummer playing for minor indie bands like Saxon Shore while working in a bakery for a day job. He was born in an evangelical household and was very religious during his youth, something he resented his parents for when he grew up. While working as a drummer, he wrote music for himself in his free time. He attended a private Christian college but dropped out as he felt more comfortable in his music career. Through touring, he made connections with other artists and his demos made their way to Damien Jurado, a fellow Sub Pop artist. He would then go on to open for Jurado. In 2006, he had his first studio album released under the moniker J. Tillman. He then went on to produce four more albums (eight in total), with the last one being released in 2010. During his J. Tillman years, a lot of the music he made was very folk and has joked about the music he made being “sad bastard music.” He found very little success doing folk albums. During this time as J. Tillman, he joined the indie band Fleet Foxes as the drummer. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he stated that, “With Fleet Foxes I had to confront a certain sacred cow in my life, which was the idea that if I was in a popular band, if I just get to be a working musician, then that’s going to be the antidote for all the boredom and pain in my life. -
