P&G APPOINTS KIM TECK CHEONG AS DISTRIBUTOR FOR SARAWAK AND BRUNEI

KIM TECK CHEONG CONSOLIDATED BERHAD (“KTC” or the “Group”), wholly-owned subsidiary Kim Teck Cheong (Borneo) Sdn Bhd (formerly known as AMDA Marketing (Sabah) Sdn Bhd), (“KTC Borneo”) has received a letter of appointment from Procter & Gamble (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“P&G”), to appoint KTC Borneo as its distributor for Sarawak with effect from the 01 October 2016. The letter of appointment granting the distribution rights to KTC Borneo to cover the East Malaysia market will manifest the Group’s expansion and market coverage across East Malaysia, encompassing Sabah, Labuan and now Sarawak. KTC is also P&G’s appointed distributor for the Brunei market acting through Ben Foods (B) Sdn Bhd.

KTC has been a long-standing distributor with P&G in Sabah and Labuan and trusted business partner for more than 30 years. P&G’s distributorship appointment represents a significant milestone for the Group, and it has opened up valuable business access to an existing multi million-ringgit market demand for P&G products in Sarawak. The additional market access and distribution points are expected to reflect material improvement in the Group’s revenue moving forward.

Prior to the abovementioned appointment by P&G, KTC had recently completed the acquisition of Popular Trading (Borneo) Corporation Sdn Bhd in Sarawak. KTC is currently in the process of acquiring Grandtop Marketing Sdn Bhd in Brunei, which was announced earlier this year. The Group has been actively identifying and securing new deals, bringing in prominent brands such as Anakku and Marigold with over two hundred 3rd party brands under its belt. The third generation scion of the CPG (consumer package goods) business has been credited for the turnaround of the Group and its expansion beyond Sabah to Sarawak and Brunei. In line with their business strategy, KTC has also being bringing in “blue chip” brand names under its belt to further enhance its product line and diversity.
