2018 Executive Staff Dear Friends, Deborah Rogers It is my pleasure to present to you the 2018 Riverside Executive Director Foundation Annual Report. This year we are focusing on our Janis Carrier Riverside Family which is crucial to our success in providing Director of Quality Assurance quality programs and support to over 500 people since 1976. Darlene George-Craig Our Riverside Family consists of everyone that makes this RWA Program Director vibrant special needs community work. This includes our Brenda Miller residents, our work and activity center clients, their family Director of Development members and our staff. Our Board of Directors, Women’s Pete Mulé Board, volunteers and our generous donors also join with us Executive Advisor to support our mission to empower the individuals we serve. Nick Nikitow This past year we have been able to make significant improvements to our campus in Maintenance Director Lincolnshire. A substantial donation allowed us to improve the safety of the parking lot and Susan Schmidt complete needed roof repairs. Other donations enabled us to purchase new dining room Manager of Financial Operations armchairs which increased the stability, comfort and dining pleasure for our residents. With Gloria Van Hof additional funding, we have hired a full time Rehabilitation Aide to assist with our clients’ Human Resources Director mobility and to improve/maintain their ability to walk, transfer and move independently. Joan Kehoe Wencel Food Service Director The obstacles Riverside and similar agencies throughout the state have faced in the past few years continue with more intensity. Severely inadequate state reimbursement, difficulty Betty White–Zappa Director of Nursing in hiring dedicated staff and keeping up with onerous state and federal regulations makes our mission extremely difficult as we look to the future. Peggy Gaier: Board of Directors – Member, Chris Kiah: Board of Directors – President* Women’s Board – President *Current Board President I have been a member of the Riverside Foundation Prior to joining the Board, I had heard about Riverside Women’s Board for 18 years and have so many through friends of mine in Lincolnshire. Attending the memories it’s hard to pick a favorite! At the residential facility, we focus on individual autonomy within an environment of professional care. Social interaction is offered through an assortment of activities and experiences. Some of our popular in house programs include pet therapy offered by Lincolnshire Animal Hospital, computer time, holiday dances, parties on the patio, arts and crafts, movie night, activity sessions with one of our volunteers and yoga classes. Work and Activity Center – John Riverside Foundation’s Work and Activity Center (RWA) has been Wooden an important part of Riverside since 1986. It enriches the lives of our residents as well as adults with developmental disabilities who reside in other settings. Our clients work according to their personal abilities and participate in meaningful activities and programs. RWA offers the opportunity to develop skills in an environment that emphasizes individual goals, good work habits and specific job skills.

RWA partners with local businesses, municipalities and Eugene Kuranda & organizations to help participants acquire skills, while providing Bill Mahrenholz (L to R) an able work force. KSM, ITW, Total Promotions, Purdy Projects Sasha Pais and CPA Chicago are some of RWA’s customers. The services Riverside provides are bagging, collating, labeling, light assembly and disassembly, packaging and sorting. Riverside Work and Activity center offers an environment that fosters a sense of autonomy and self-worth through accomplishment and is a critical factor in pursuing happy, fulfilling lives.
