The courthouse was originally commissioned under the GSA's Design Excellence Program, an initiative to create and preserve a legacy of outstanding public buildings that embody the finest in contemporary architectural thought. It recognized with the General Services Adminstration's (GSA) prestigious Honor Award for Architecture in 2000. The courthouse was also received a 2001 AIA Nevada Design Award, and a special citation for design excellence by the AIA Justice Facility Design section in 2003. During his tenure on the board, Jon has challenged this group to deal with substantive matters; to successively improve its agendas, and to spend less time on the “business” of the board and more on the “mission.” This board plays an important role in the lives of our students by offering insights as real world by professionals and, just as importantly, providing important financial support through the Alumni/ae Board Scholarships.
