This lot features a 9ct yellow gold pocket watch and medal, which were presented to Police Constable Thomas Parsons for his valiant rescue of three individuals from drowning on separate occasions between 1909 and 1925. The case back and rear of the medal are both inscribed with ‘Presented to P.C. Thomas Parsons from the Parish of Sully for life saving from the sea Nov 1927’.

These rescues were recognised throughout the Vale of Glamorgan and by the Royal Humane Society, who presented certifi cates detailing P.C. Parson’s achievements. Included is one such example, dated 8th of December 1925 which was issued for the rescue of a lady who was in imminent danger of drowning at sea near Swanbridge.
