There are currently 14 departments within the faculty, nine of which are actively accepting new admissions every year. The departments within the faculty are constantly updated and developed to better adapt to the demands of the modern field business spaces and professions that change in tandem with the emerging developments across the World. Each and every department offers students with applications and programs that would increase their values as members of society while contributing to their information and skills. Our faculty conducts intensive learning mobility by making national and international agreements within the scope of active Erasmus and Mevlana Exchange Program and national exchange agreements under the Farabi Exchange Program. The departments in our faculty have double major programs themselves and with departments of other faculties. Education on Master’s and Doctorate level is offered to students in physics, mathematics, literature, biology and history departments, and there are Master’s programs in philosophy, contemporary and literature departments. Our graduates represent our university and faculty as individuals who can work in various fields of social life, think critically, inquire, researcher, open to change and development, and aim to raise productive and creative individuals.

Our priority is to train teachers who have the ability teach anywhere across and around the world, depending on the same principles and values. In addition, it aims to bring young people who are capable of producing scientific studies undertaking researches and finding solutions to educational problems at the local, national and global levels.

It has been deemed appropriate to open seven departments in our Faculty: Painting, Traditional Turkish Arts, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Music Sciences, Conservation of Artworks and Restoration and Cinema-TV Departments. Our faculty, which started education with two departments as Painting and Traditional Turkish Arts in 2015, continues its education activities with four departments as Ceramic and Graphic Design Departments in 2016. In 2017, the name of our Ceramic Department changed to “Ceramic and Glass Department”. Kastamonu University Faculty of forestry situated in the West Region of Turkey, founded in 1992 in affiliation with , continues education from 2006 on as a part of Kastamonu University to this day. Faculty of Forestry, one of the long-established Faculties of Kastamonu University, operates along with the departments of Forest Engineering and Forest Industry Engineering at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Master and Doctorate). Student admissions have not yet begun in the Wildlife Ecology and Management Department, which was opened at the undergraduate level. Kastamonu University Faculty of Forestry Magazine, recognized at national and international level, is the first magazine in Turkey in the field of E-SCI scanned category, published since 2001. Our university is the only university in Turkey that specialized in the field of Forestry and Nature tourism within the scope of Regional Development and Mission Differentiation Project. Our faculty is one of the leading faculties in terms of the number of the engineers employed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Departments include:

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES https://fbsbf.kastamonu.edu.tr [email protected] Following the signing of the protocol on the establishment of the Vocational School of Health Services within the Health Vocational High Schools between the Presidency of the Higher Education Council and the Ministry of Health on 10.02.1992, the institution was officially converted to Vocational School of Health Services on May 18, 1993 and education started with 19 students. In line with the decisions of the Higher Health Council on May 23, 1995, it was acknowledged to conduct midwifery, nursing and health officer education in 4-year vocational schools and a cooperation protocol has been signed on 22.11.1996 by the Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Health in order to put the schools of health schools of in operation in the buildings of vocational high schools that are affiliated to the Ministry of Health. On 10.10.1996 associate degree in nursing was terminated, thus the school became Kastamonu Vocational School of Health Sciences conducting 4 years undergraduate programme, affiliated to Gazi University. Later, it became a part of Kastamonu University founded on 17.03.2006 as Vocational School of Health. Our Vocational School was closed according to the related decision of the council of ministers (2016/8562) and established as Fazıl Boyner Faculty of Health Sciences on 25/1/2016 by the council of ministers. The Faculty, which was not been active for a long time, started to operate again in 2011 as the Faculty of Fisheries at Kastamonu University.

The Faculty operates withing the scope of Aquaculture, Fisheries Basic Sciences, Diseases and Inland Waters Biology Major Disciplines that are in the Aquaculture, Basic Sciences and Fishing and Processing Technologies Departments. Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine was established in 2007 under the Presidency of and was transferred to Kastamonu University on 23.07.2015 with the decision of the Council of Ministers. Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine started to admit students in the 2017-2018 academic year and has 210 students. Students are educated at Yıldırım Beyazıt University due to the infrastructure works. Students who are placed in Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine will continue their education in Kastamonu in the 2020-2021 academic year. Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine aims to provide high quality healthcare services to the general community by contributing to universal knowledge accumulation by carrying out researches and by training physicians who have high level medical ethical values and scientific thinking and have the ability to communicate, access and use information.

In our institute, Movement and Training Sciences Master Program with Thesis and Medical Microbiology Master Program with Thesis are available. It is the first time that students have been admitted to the Movement and Training Sciences Master’s Program in the Fall Semester of the 2019/2020 Academic Year, and 32 students are still in the course phase in the said program. Medical Microbiology Master Program with Thesis will start accepting students soon. In addition, the Nutrition and Metabolism Graduate Program application file, which is planned to be opened, has been submitted to the Presidency of the Higher Education Council and the application file of the Nursing Science Thesis Master Program is under examination in the Education Commission of our University. As the institute, it is aimed to increase the number of qualified scientific studies and the number of students with both existing programs and programs to be opened. There are not any permanent faculty members and administrative staff in our institute. Faculty members’ needs are met by assignments in accordance with Article 40 / a of Law No. 2547. In accordance with Article 13 / b-4 of the Law No. 2547, administrative personnel were assigned. Optional English Preparatory Program, Foreign language courses (English, German and Spanish) given at undergraduate levels and related exams are carried out by School of Foreign Languages. Foreign Languages Department is responsible for planning and conducting all foreign language courses given at our University, including English Preparation, Compulsory and Elective English courses at associate and undergraduate level and undergraduate elective second foreign language (German and Spanish) courses. Compulsory foreign language (English) courses in associate degree programs are carried out through distance education. The compulsory language (English) lessons in the undergraduate departments are carried out through distance education or formal education in line with the decisions of the relevant departments. Optional foreign language program is a 1-year English Preparatory Program provided for newly enrolled students of associate and undergraduate programs and it aims to equip students with new English skills that they will need in their education and professional life. Considering the physical capacity of the school and the number of Instructors, the students who will receive the Preparatory Training are determined according to the results of the Placement Exam among the candidates applying to the program.

Farabi is an exchange program that offers student and faculty exchange between higher education institutions in Turkey. The mobility of change provided by YÖK (Council of Higher Education) within the scope of this program, implemented in 2008-2009, supports students with study and socio-cultural development in the universities they want in a new academic year or year. As of 2020, the number of protocols signed with domestic universities within the scope of Farabi Exchange Program is 92. Protocols that expire every year are renewed. In addition, the archive of resources such as books, brochures, essays published in the UK and other countries in the 18th century with the Eighteen Century Collection and the archives of monographs, newspapers, brochures, maps, photographs, statistics and rare works published in the 19th century with the Nineteenth Century Collection support the collection of our library. In addition to supporting educational and research activities, our Central Library aims to provide all users (academic and administrative staff, students and external users) with the best service to access all kinds of information and to evaluate their free time. Our library provides its electronic resources for 24/7 without space and time limit while lending information resources. Our library serves 700 people every day between 08:30 and 23:00 on an area of 12,000 m2 with wireless internet access on each floor. On the first floor, there is a reading hall, books, local newspapers, individual study rooms; on the second floor, there are books, theses, rare works, group study rooms, reference resources (encyclopedias, dictionaries, guides, yearbooks etc.); on the third floor, there are periodicals, research unit, group study rooms and a special section for our visually impaired users.

Food Services

The contractor firm carries out the Food Services at our university. This includes lunch and dinner for students, administrative and academic staff. Food is checked by Directorate of Health, Culture & Sports on daily basis to ensure quality. 1 dietician and 1 food technician are employed for control purposes and the monthly food menu is published at www.kastamonu. edu.tr/index.php/tr/guncel-yemek-listesi. There are 16 cafeterias in our university.

Restaurants - Cafes-Shopping Center and Accommodation Services

The University has 2 guesthouses, Mevlüt Beyribey Guesthouse and Cide guesthouse, to serve the internal stakeholders of our university and other public personnel. Mevlüt Beyribey Guesthouse has a capacity of 13 rooms and 26 beds. Cide Guesthouse is located in Cide District. There are 28 rooms in total which includes 3 triple rooms, 3 suite rooms, 22 double rooms and 1 swimming pool. Cide Guesthouse is open in the summer period. There are also 20 canteens and cafes at Faculties and Schools for students and staff to spend their time outside the classroom and meet their food and beverage needs. Scholarship and Part Time Services

Our university provides 400 free food scholarships to students. In line with the demands of the units of our university, an average of 240 students are employed on a part-time basis during the academic year, and when necessary, an average of 45 students are also employed during spring break and summer holidays.
