He is best known for his role as one of the main cast members of Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta starring alongside Mimi Faust, Lil Scrappy, Rash- eeda, Stevie J, and Joseline Hernandez and has since held roles in countless TV shows & guest appearances. FITNESS Nikko is also a Celebrity fitness trainer. It was his love of helping others paired with his affinity for exercise and healthy living that led the creation of his lifestyle and fitness brand ZeekPak, which he used as the conduit to launch the first leg of his national fitness tour in Spring 2018 called the Zeekpak Fitness Challenge. This challenge is a 24-day tour that targets 24 high-risk and under-served communities across the country in an effort to promote exercise and healthy lifestyles. LIFESTYLE BRAND ZEEKPAK FITNESS “Eat Clean, Train Dirty” – Lifestyle and fitness brand boasting sportswear and fitness apparel – Launched fitness tour called ZeekPak Fitness Challenge to promote healthy living and lifestyles among all age categories and fitness levels through free fitness boot camps around the country – Proceeds from sale of apparel line supports fitness tour and facilitates health semi- nars throughout low-income Zcommunities MUSIC Although Nikko’s reality television appearances were how he was “formally” introduced to the Entertainment industry to many, his first love and foremost talent is music. He is an incredible singer, songwriter, producer, and plays several different instruments very fluently. Nikko has no doubt managed to keep his fingers directly on the pulse of the current culture of music with the brilliant songs he creates. MUSIC His sound is unique, strong and captivating: one that transcends through many different genres and creates a diversified fan base. He embodies the true soul of Hip Hop mixed with a futuristic, upbeat dance music allure. It is only enhanced by his original lyrics that makes hearts race with anticipation for more especially when performing live. He show- cased this talent most recently in March of 2018 during LA Fashion week as he graced the stage of Art Hearts Fashion and received rave reviews. FOREVER YOUNG Most recently, Nikko has released his new album entitled: Forever Young, featuring top-rated singles like “Lonely” and “Brook- lyn”. HILL JENNIFER SHOAFF, COMMITTEE CHAIR UTZ MCKNIGHT RACHEL RAIMIST A THESIS In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in the Department of Gender and Race Studies in the Graduate School of the University of Alabama TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA 2015 Copyright Kiara Monique Hill 2015 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ABSTRACT This research interrogates the ways in which Black women process and negotiate their sexual identities. By connecting the historical exploitation of Black female bodies to the way Black female deviant identities are manufactured and consumed currently, I was able to show not only the evolution of Black women’s attitudes towards sexuality, but also the ways in which these attitudes manifest when policing deviancy amongst each other. Chapter 1 gives historical insight to the way that deviancy has been inextricably linked to the construction of Blackness. Using the Post-Reconstruction Era as my point of entry, I demonstrate the ways in which Black bodies were stigmatized as sexually deviant, and how the use of Black caricatures buttressed the consumption of this narrative by whites. I explain how countering this narrative became fundamental to the evolution of Black female sexual politics, and how ultimately bodily agency was later restored through sexual deviancy. Chapter 2 interrogates the way “authenticity” is propagated within the genre of reality TV. Black women are expected to perform deviant identities that coincide with controlling images so that the “authenticity” of Black womanhood is consumed by mainstream audiences.
