It is easy to argue the case for a compatible IT system in today’s logistics environment. Nevertheless, there are plenty of companies that still opt for individual solutions. Seen in that light, the decades-long inter-port cooperation between Marseille and Le Havre with the company MGI is all the more remarkable. Christian Doepgen spoke with MGI’s CEO François Mahé des Portes.

The situation in Syria is taking its toll on the flow of goods to and from the Turkish market. Up to now, many of the country’s exports have found their way to the Arabian peninsula and North Africa through Egypt. But starting next year this practice could change, as trade relations between Turkey and Egypt have been less than ideal for some time.

The transport routes around Turkey are in a state of flux. The civil war in Syria is one reason for the upheaval. Another one is deteriorating diplomatic relations. The local media in Turkey and Egypt have reported that Egyptian government representatives announced at the end of October that they would not extend an agreement for road haulage traffic be- tween Turkey and Egypt when it expires in April 2015.
