About the Holcim Portland Cement Plant

The Portland cement plant is a dry process cement plant since 1996 in Colorado. With 125 employees, the Portland cement plant supplies markets in Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Wyoming, Idaho, Texas, Utah and Nebraska.

Current Plant Operations The Portland cement plant produces Type I/II MA and LA cement, Type III, Type GU, Type IPF and Masonry Type N. They have an annual capacity of 1.8 million metric tons. Environmental Commitment The Portland cement plant is US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certified. Environmental technology at the plant includes a flue gas desulfurization scrubber that eliminates more than 90 percent of emissions. Other improvements include a low nitrogen oxide

calciner to reduce NOx emissions and modern bag-houses for effective dust collection.

Committed to sustainability, the plant co-processes waste by recovering energy and materials from waste such as scrap tires and used oil to replace some of the fossil fuels and mineral resources used in cement processing. The plant has the capacity to co-process all of the scrap tires generated by the state.

Putting Safety First LafargeHolcim’s first priority is the health and safety of employees, subcontractors and visitors. The importance of safe behaviors and a safety mindset is constantly emphasized as the highest priority, with the goal of zero harm to people. The plant has instituted innovative, effective procedures to keep everyone safe. Community Support The Portland cement plant assisted in the rehabilitation of the Coaldale Portland Cement Plant 3500 State Hwy 120 Community Cemetery. They improved the Florence Community Center safe Florence, CO 81226 access. They participate in the Fremont County Scrap Tire Collection Day. Portland cement plant also donates to local school, youth generations, Fernando Valencia, Plant Manager charitable groups and local fire departments.
