2010 National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) Census Regional Report Clients aged 18 or older in treatment for substance abuse only, per 100,000 population, by U.S. Census division
The National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) is an annual census of facilities in the United States, both public and private, that provide substance abuse treatment. Each year, about 17,000 facilities are surveyed, and information is collected on their location, characteristics, and use of alcohol and drug treatment facilities and services throughout the 50 States, the Disctrict of Columbia, and other U.S. jurisdictions.
This report focuses on the rate, per 100,000 population, of clients in treatment for substance abuse by U.S. Census division (Figure 1). There are 9 U.S. Census regional divisions (Pacific, Mountain, West North Central, West South Central, East North Central, East South Central, New England, Middle Atlantic, and South Atlantic). The data presented in this report is based on 13,339 facilities that responded to the N-SSATS survey.
