Pat Murphy graduated from Valparaiso High School and St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana. He recorded 483 wins over 28 seasons and this included 13 Sectional Championships and 2 Duneland

Conference Championships. He was honored three times as District Coach of the Year. Indiana where he was a 2-sport athlete in baseball & basketball. He was drafted in the 7th round of the 1991 June amateur draft by the Minnesota Twins. He was a 2-time minor league player of the year in the Twins organization in 1993 & 1994 and then made his major-league debut on th April 29 , 1995 at the age of 22.
