BIG E TRAINING EVENT 2014

THE BIG E TRAINING DAY…..is aimed at everyone who works with children or young people, be they new or experienced. There’s a choice of workshops covering important areas of work with children and young people, and everyone will be able to choose three. All bookings by Friday 10 October 2014. There will also be a Market Place with a Bookstall, resources available to borrow from the Diocesan Resource Centre, and displays from other agencies working with children and young people including Scripture Union, BRF, Rock UK, Beech Publishing and Vocations.

THE WORKSHOP LEADERS ….. are a range of people with experience and expertise in their areas. Some work nationally or regionally for Christian agencies, while others work week-in, week-out with children and young people in their local church.

THE WORKSHOPS ….. cover a range of Big E basics to help, encourage and enthuse you. You will need to choose three workshops, with three others as your second choices (see booking form). We will try to make sure that you are given your first choices if possible. Some workshops have limited numbers, so early booking is advised.

THE COST….. at £10 per delegate includes LUNCH, drinks and biscuits. Make sure that you bring as many people from your church as possible, and share all that you learn after the event with your church. Developing Church and School Links Not every child comes into our churches, but most of them go to school – so that’s a great place to meet them! This workshop explores creative ways for churches to develop & strengthen links with local schools. CY

‘11 Alive’ – Active and Engaging All-age Worship Come along to find out some of the principles and practice of the ’11 Alive’ worship from new Cross Community Church in Sutton in Ashfield, with lots of ideas about to how engage with communities. CY

Faith in the Home How to help parents 'do God' at home, and model prayer and worship that will last a lifetime! There will be a look at lots of resources to help. C

Really Great Assemblies Many schools offer opportunities for visitors to go in and share the Christian message through assemblies. This session will give you lots of great ideas to make those assemblies full of God, and really good! CY

Nurturing Spirituality in children and young people This workshop will explore what is meant by spiritual development and spiritual styles. We will then consider practical ways in which we can offer children and young people appropriate spaces in which to explore questions of meaning and faith, taking into account the different spiritual styles which they (and we) prefer. Planning & delivering Children’s Events Holiday clubs, praise parties and other events are great opportunities to share our faith. This workshop will cover using resources, building teams, keeping safe, and making the most of the opportunities. C

Godly Play – Helping Children Grow Godly Play can help children think through their faith and grow spiritually. This session will explore how Godly Play can be used in churches, schools and clubs. C

Helping Children through Crisis and Bereavement Whether it's in a Bible story, or a question, or a life situation - how can you be prepared to talk about sickness, death, and other unexpected crises with children in a way which builds their faith? C

There is no increase in Common Marriage Licence fees this year. The fee remains at £200.

Reservation of Gravespaces Fees

The Chancellor will increase the fee payable to PCCs for the maintenance of the graveyards to £200 with effect from 1st January 2015. This will replace the £100 payable by those not living in the parish or on the Electoral Roll, and £50 payable by those resident in the parish.
