Game 13 Nov. 30 #11 Washington 10, #17 Utah 3 Santa Clara, Calif. Levi’s Stadium [35,134]

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—An unfortunate bounce and a questionable no call at the end of the game helped No. 10 Washington escape No. 17 Utah 10-3 in the Pac-12 Championship game. In a battle between the league’s two best defenses, the Huskies eked out a 3-0 halftime lead and Utah tied it up in the third quarter on a 53-yard fi eld goal by Matt Gay. The only touchdown of the game came late in the third period when a pass bobbled by Siaosi Mariner caromed off his leg and was retrieved in the air by Byron Murphy, who ran it back for a pick six. John Penisini prevented the Huskies from another score with his blocked fi eld goal in the fourth quarter but Jason Shelley (17-of-27, 137 yards) threw his third interception of the game on the next series. Utah had one more shot, crossing midfi eld only to have a fourth-down pass fall incomplete after Mariner was prematurely wrapped up.
