1. Provides university branding nationally and internationally…at no cost to campus. Annually, Football and Men’s Basketball advertising opportunities are in excess of $1.15 million value.

3. Creates opportunity for campus leaders to tell the university’s story and for fans to experience NC State’s passionate athletic traditions.

4. Develops esprit de corps among alumni, friends, staff and students, bonding them to the university family.

4. Draws people back to campus to see the growth of NC State and creates the opportunity to become more engaged in campus life.

5. Generates funds for university licensing unit, for use by campus entities, as teams win and provide national exposure.

6. Supports the development unit and alumni association of the university.

11 People BUDGET Resources Opportunity (RESOURCES) CHALLENGES 1. Per sport expenditure for 2008-09, per Equity In Athletics Disclosure Act report, reflects NC State 11th out of 12 ACC Universities. National Director’s Cup Finish of 87 in 2010. Reasons listed below:

2. Multi-media rights agreement one of modest proportions, as compared to our peers.

3. Student fees charged per student is 7th out of 8 among public universities in ACC. (Increase received for 2011-2012).

4. Expenses paid to campus up 51% from FY10 to FY12. (Largely due to tuition costs).

5. Athletics currently diverts $2 million per year in face value ticket sales to assist in facility payments, per formal agreements with the university.

6. Modest revenue sharing to athletics for parking, merchandise sales and licensing. Concession revenue share appropriate.
