MASTER PLANTING GUIDE FOR GRAVE PLOTS AT TEMPLE BETH-EL CEMETERY

Prepared by Searle & Searle, Landscape Architects & Planners November 1995

Purpose of Guide:

This guide is intended to help property owners choose suitable materials for individual grave plots. The are categorized according to climatic conditions – sun or shade; vegetation type – evergreen or deciduous; and the ultimate height for each plant. In order not to obscure the grave stone, it is recommended that plants sited in front of the headstone be two feet tall or less; those placed on the side should be three feet or less. When used correctly these plants are hardy, relatively maintenance free and long lived. The named varieties listed here are chosen because of their specific size characteristics and should not be freely replaced with other varieties of the same which often times do not share similar attributes.
