Aigles Bleus Standout Chosen for All-Star Team TIMES & TRANSCRIPT 6 déc. 2016 – Times & Transcript Aigles Bleus standout chosen for all-star team TIMES & TRANSCRIPT Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus standout forward Allain Saulnier has been rewarded for his stellar first semester in the Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey conference. Saulnier has been named to the U Sports men’s hockey all-star team that will play Canadian national junior team prospects next week. The two-game exhibition series is slated for Dec. 12 and Dec. 13 in Boisbriand,Que.,as part of the Canadian junior team’s preparation for the world junior hockey championship from Dec.26 to Jan. 5 in Toronto and Montreal. Saulnier, a fourth-year forward from Cap-Pelé, recorded a country-high 33 points in 18 games during the first semester of the regular season. He’s tallied four goals and 29 assists. Saulnier is thrilled to get the opportunity to play on the U Sports all-star team. His twin brother, Alex, played in the first series between the two teams last year, registering three points in the two games. “I am very excited to be part of this team. My brother went last year and all things were positive and quite an experience. I am looking forward to live it myself,”Saulnier said. “It will be interesting to play the top junior age players in Canada. They are younger than we are and it should be exciting. I will have an added bonus while watching the world juniors on Boxing Day as I will have played against these guys. I am looking forward to the games.” Saulnier will join his teammates on Dec. 11 and practice in time for the first game the following day in Boisbriand. “I am happy for Allain. He will have a positive impact on this team,”said UdeM head coach Serge Bourgeois.“His brother Alex was a key player last year. Allain is a great ambassador for our team.” Riverview’s Jordan Murray, a defence-man with the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds,has also been picked to the U Sports all-star team. The fourth-year player ranks first in the country in scoring by defencemen with nine goals and 28 points in 18 games this season. Murray, who played on the U Sports all-star team last year,was selected the national defenceman of the year last season. Other AUS players chosen to the 23-man all-star team roster are forwards Philippe Maillet of UNB and Holden Cook of the St.Francis Xavier X- 6 déc. 2016 – Times & Transcript Men,defenceman Geoff Schemitsch of the Acadia Axemen and goaltender Corbin Bowes of the Dalhousie Tigers. Brett Gibson of the Queen’s Gaels will guide the U Sports squad in the two- game series. He will be accompanied behind the bench by assistants Brad Peddle of St. FX, Mark Howell of the Calgary Dinos and Marc-Etienne Hubert of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières Patriotes. “It is a fantastic opportunity for these 23 U Sports athletes from across the country to showcase how great of a product we have,” said Gibson.“It also comes with a great responsibility to be a small part of the preparation for our Canadian under-20 team in their quest for a gold medal.” The U Sports team lineup is comprised of 11 players from the Ontario University Athletics conference and six apiece from the AUS and Canada West conferences. Last December, the U Sports all-stars split a two-game series with the Canadian team hopefuls, claiming a 5-4 shootout victory in the first game and losing 5-0 in the second.     Speech from the Throne 2018 Honourable Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, invited guests, and all New Brunswickers: It is my honour and privilege to welcome you to the First Session of the 59th Legislative Assembly of the Province of New Brunswick. I would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather is the traditional unceded territory of the Wolastoqey Mi’kmaq and Peskotomuhkati Peoples. Congratulations / Recognition A number of New Brunswickers have had noteworthy achievements since our last session of the legislature. We thank and congratulate the candidates who put their names forward for the recent provincial election. Of them, 38.6 per cent were women, which is an increase from the 32.2 per cent who ran in 2014. Congratulations and welcome to New Brunswick’s new MLAs. Eleven New Brunswickers were named to the Order of New Brunswick, including Judy Astle, Charles Bernard, Roberta Dugas, Louise Imbeault, Gaetan Lanteigne, Walter Learning, James Lockyer, Rebecca Schofield (posthumous), F. Eileen Wallace, and Ed and Eke van Oorschot. Five New Brunswickers became Members of the Order of Canada, including Claude Snow of Caraquet; Christl Verduyn of Sackville; W. Dale Dauphinee of Montreal and St. Andrews; Patricia “Patsy” Gallant of Campbellton; and Jean-Claude Savoie of Saint-Quentin. Many talented and caring New Brunswickers have also been recognised this past year for their contributions and achievements. Four New Brunswick educators were among 40 honoured by the Learning Partnership as Canada’s Outstanding Principals.     17 janvier 2019 – Times & Transcript Aigles Bleus crushed by powerful UNB Reds TIMES & TRANSCRIPT The University of New Brunswick Reds are the top-ranked team in all of Canadian university men’s hockey. The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus found out why on Wednesday. The Reds scored four first-period goals en route to crushing the visiting Aigles Bleus 10-0 in an Atlantic University Sport conference game at the Aitken University Centre in Fredericton. UNB, which improved its conference-leading record to 19-1-3, was coming off its first regulation time loss of the season in its previous game. Kris Bennett scored a power-play goal at 8:45 of the first period and Matthew Boucher struck with a short-handed marker five minutes later to get the Reds off and running. They never slowed down. The Reds got back-to-back goals from Mark Rassell and Joe Gatenby just 29 seconds apart late in the first period, and the rout was on. They added four goals in the second period and completed the evening with two more in the third. UNB outshot Moncton 52-17. The Aigles Bleus - tied with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men for third place in the AUS and winners of three of their previous four games - slipped to 11-9-3 on the season. Moncton, which beat UNB in a shootout on home ice in the first semester, hasn’t won at the Aitken University Centre since October, 2012. “We need to forget this game quickly,” dejected Aigles Bleus head coach Judes Vallée said following the game.

PHOTO: NORMAND A. LÉGER The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus won just three games in the Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey conference last season. They’ve already surpassed that this season. Vincent Deslauriers scored twice and the Aigles Bleus rolled past the visiting Dalhousie Tigers 6-2 on Saturday at the J.- Louis-Lévesque Arena. The victory moved Moncton’s record to 4-3-2, good for fourth place in the AUS. Marc-Anthony Therrien added a goal and an assist and Robbie Graham, Alexandre Jacob and Maxim St-Cyr also tallied for the Aigles Bleus, who snapped a two-game slide. Jonathan Cyr and Jackson Playfair each had a goal and an assist for the Tigers (1-8-0), on an eight-game losing streak. Étienne Montpetit stopped 23 shots for Moncton. Reilly Pickard made 28 saves for Dalhousie. “The game went well for us, the score indicates that. We played like we should and the result is there.
