Footprints Topical Index 1957-2018 Compiled by Rob Yoder Fort Worth Genealogical Society Roy Combrink, President Fort Worth Genealogical Society P.O. The earliest topical index appears to have been published in 1976. The most recent one seen in print was only about twelve to fifteen pages long. The Society sold that as a stapled booklet for a couple of dollars in the late 1980's. In 1998, Joe Grant updated the topical index increasing its size to 54 pages and included it on his new Footprints 1957-1997 CD-ROM. This book does not contain a name index of any type. There is a companion book that contains a full-name index of Footprints that spans 1998 through 2014. The Footprints 1957-1997 CD contains its own surname index. This latest version of the index has been built from scratch and then updated annually. I wanted to include most of those items not used in the previous works and this was the easiest method to be sure I didn’t miss anything. I even included a lot of the small stuff because, somewhere out there is a person searching for an insignificant item that has been excluded thus far. I speak from experience. Less important categories are found, grouped together, on the second page of the Table of Contents. Back issues of Footprints may be purchased from FWGS. Issues from 1957-1997 are available only on CD-ROM, with a few exceptions. Many issues from 1998 forward are still available in hard copy. Visit the Society’s website for details. An updated CD-ROM is planned. Using This Index The last column contains the location of the article in print. The location includes the year of publication, the issue (month of publication), and the page number. The first three items found on page 266 contain the designation “CD” where the month of publication would normally be found. This indicates where it is found on Joe’s CD. “IBC” used as a page number means Inside Back Cover. “IFC” means Inside Front Cover. A few dozen page numbers will be followed by a number in parentheses. These pages were incorrectly numbered when published and should be changed to the number contained in the parentheses. Renumbering eliminated duplicate page numbers within the volume and in the surname index. Many items in this index will be found cross-referenced under two or more categories or by two or more surnames.
