CSULB has one of the largest Mathematics departments within the CSU system; currently more than 2,000 students seek undergraduate science degrees and 178 students are pursuing master's degrees. It is primarily funded by the National Science Foundation---the NSF component of the IMA budget is currently the single largest NSF mathematics research grant---with significant support from the University of Minnesota and smaller amounts from academic and industrial member organizations. My duties included planning and oversight of implementation of ``everything happening during the current year'' (director's characterization), reporting and public relations, and---in cooperation with the other directors---participant selection and development of future programs.
