3 BBC One

Summary: The Executive Board discussed the performance of the BBC’s Christmas television schedule. Board members noted that this year catch-up/on-demand viewing had had a real impact on viewing habits. Live viewing levels were lower than usual, but were largely made up for by the level of catch-up on PVR and iPlayer. This was particularly the case on Christmas Day when people clearly felt they could postpone their viewing. However, live events, such as The Queen’s Speech, continued to draw high audiences. Charlotte Moore spoke to the highlights of the 2016 BBC One schedule.
