Martin Rowney—Principal

Martin Rowney, GML Heritage Principal, has a broad range of experience in historical, industrial and Aboriginal archaeological sites around Australia.

He has over 20 years’ experience in development related site assessment, archaeological excavation and heritage management planning, with a particular emphasis on liaison with Aboriginal stakeholders. Martin has worked with Commonwealth and state government agencies assessing and managing Indigenous heritage values under the EPBC Act including a wide range of Aboriginal community consultation projects. He has prepared a number of policy and guideline documents for Commonwealth and state government agencies to assist with Aboriginal community consultation.

Martin’s skills include project management, client liaison, excavation supervision, planning and surveying supervision, report production, background research and plan preparation. Martin also has a strong interest in heritage site interpretation and the development of place specific artwork.
