This is Julia’s other band, sax, piano, bass, drums, and Shertay other healthy “persona, ” if that is the right word. She specialises in brilliant tributes to Nina Simone, Ella FitzgeraldMichael and Billie Holiday among others. This latest show and the talented and swinging band are getting rave reviews wherever she plays. The Anglo / Italian tenor sax maestro Ray (also occasional vocalist with his Jive Band, The Giants) is on tour with Spain’s Superstar Jazzman, the superb sax man Enric. It’s been many years since we have seen Ray, and of course it will be a first time visit for Enric. These two have a regular partnership with highly acclaimed gigs all over Europe, usually with Richard Busiakiewicz on piano, and Richard will be a part of the Quintet at Marlow. Ray, we are sure is well known to you, but if you want to check out Enric there is plenty on YouTube. But as it is a Festival event it is an earlier start! Always rated as World’s Number One Jazz Guitarist, the immaculate Howard Alden, prolific Concord Label recording artist, returns to Marlow after four years absence and will be joined by top British sax man Andy Panayi, Simon Woolf on bass and Denis Smith on drums.
