After playing in various leagues as prior to World War II, the Governors were members of the Volunteer State Athletic Conference from 1947-62. Austin Peay has played two stints in the Ohio Valley Conference, the first from 1963-96 and then again from 2007 to current. From 1996-2006, Austin Peay played nonscholarship football both as an independent (1997-00, 2006) and as a member of the Pioneer Football League (2001-05). Individual game statistics and their associated records are incomplete prior to 1996 and will be added to this record book as they are digitized. All single-game records – team and individual – are from 1996 to current, unless additional data is available. The athletics communications office is making every effort to improve the single game records sections of this book. 1977 & 2019 OVC CHAMPIONS • 1 HONORS & AWARDS NATIONAL AWARDS STATS FCS EDDIE ROBINSON AWARD STATS FCS BUCK BUCHANAN AWARD STATS FCS WALTER PAYTON AWARD FCS Coach of the Year FCS Defensive Player of the Year FCS Offensive Player of the Year Year Coach Place Year Athlete Place Year Athlete Place 2017 Will Healy 1st 2017 Jaison Williams, DE 19th 2002 Jay Bailey, RB 17th 2019 Mark Hudspeth 3rd 2019 Kordell Jackson, DB 6th CONFERENCE AWARDS OVC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR ROY KIDD OVC COACH OF THE YEAR 1964 Carlton Flatt, QB/DB 1964 Bill Dupes 1980 Sonny Defilippis, QB 1977 James “Boots” Donnelly 2017 Will Healy OVC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2019 Mark Hudspeth 1977 Bob Bible, LB 1978 Mike Betts, DB PFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2002 South Division: Jay Bailey, RB OVC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR 2017 Jeremiah Oatsvall, QB Austin Peay head coach Will Healy (right) receives the 2017 STATS FCS Eddie Robinson Award, which recognizes the subdivision’s top head coach. 2 • 2020 AUSTIN PEAY STATE UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL • LETSGOPEAY.COM HONORS & AWARDS ALL-AMERICA TEAM SELECTIONS CONSENSUS ASSOCIATED PRESS FCS ATHLETIC DIRECTORS ALL-AMERICANS 1956 Joe Neal Grisham, RE HM ASSOCIATION ALL-STAR TEAM 1965 Tim Chilcutt, DB 1964 Timothy Chilcutt, HB 2nd 2019 Kordell Jackson, DB 1966 John Ogles, FB 1964 Carlton Flatt, QB HM 1970 Harold Roberts, OE 1965 Timothy Chilcutt, DB 1st HERO SPORTS 1977 Bob Bible, LB 1965 Ronnie Parson, E HM 2017 Kyran Moore, RS 1st 1978 Mike Betts, DB 1966 John Ogles, FB 1st 2017 Jaison Williams, DL 3rd 1980 Brett Williams, DE 1966 Ronnie Parson, E HM 2019 DeAngelo Wilson, WR 1st 1982 Charlie Tucker, OL 1968 Doug Pittenger, DT HM 2019 JaVaughn Craig, ATH 1st 1992 Richard Darden, DL 1968 Harold Roberts, E HM 2019 Kordell Jackson, DB 1st 2001 Dustin Wilson, LB 1969 Harold Roberts, E HM 2019 Kyle Anderton, OL 3rd 2002 Jay Bailey, RB 1970 Harold Roberts, E 1st SOPHOMORE ALL-AMERICA 2019 Kordell Jackson, DB 1972 Bonnie Sloan, DT HM 2016 Gunnar Scholato, LB HM To be named a Consensus All-American, 1974 Bob Sizemore, C HM 2017 Jaison Williams, DL 1st players have to be listed on the first team 1977 Bob Bible, LB 1st 2019 Jack McDonald, LB HM for more than half the All-America teams used in the compilation. 1977 Waddell Whitehead, RB HM FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICA 1977 Ron Sebree, DE HM 2017 Jeremiah Oatsvall, QB 1st AMERICAN FOOTBALL 1977 James Green, DT HM 2017 Kordell Jackson, DB HM COACHES ASSOCIATION 1977 Mike Betts, DB HM 2017 Ahmaad Tanner, RB HM 1982 Charles Tucker, OT 1st 1978 Mike Betts, DB 1st 2019 Bucky Williams, OL 1st 2001 Dustin Wilson, LB 1st 1979 Richard Wozniak, DT 2nd 2002 Jay Bailey, RB 1st 1980 Brett Williams, DE 1st STATS INC. 2019 Kordell Jackson, DB 1st 1980 Steve Puthoff, WR 3rd 2017 Jaison Williams, DL 3rd 1980 Sonny Defilippis, QB HM 2019 Kordell Jackson, DB 1st 1982 Charles Tucker, T 2nd 2019 DeAngelo Wilson, WR 2nd 1986 Eddie Walls, LB HM 2019 Kyle Anderton, OL 2nd 2001 Dustin Wilson, LB 2nd 2019 JaVaughn Craig, APB 3rd 2002 Jay Bailey, RB 1st 2017 Jaison Williams, DL 2nd WALTER CAMP 2018 Kentel Williams, APB 3rd FOOTBALL FOUNDATION 2019 Kordell Jackson, DB 1st 2019 Kordell Jackson, DB 2019 Kyle Anderton, OL 2nd 2019 DeAngelo Wilson, WR 2nd DISCONTINUED ALL-AMERICA TEAM SELECTIONS COLLEGE SPORTING NEWS DON HANSEN’S WEEKLY THE SPORTS NETWORK PAUL WILLIAMSON’S SWEET 63 FCS TEAM FOOTBALL GAZETTE I-AA/FCS ALL-AMERICA LITTLE ALL-AMERICA 2009 Terrence Holt, APB I-AA/FCS TEAM 1992 Richard Darden, DE 1st 1949 Tom Lincoln, OE HM 2010 Terrence Holt, APB 1992 Richard Darden, DE 2nd 2009 Terrence Holt, APB 2nd 1949 Julius Sneed, OG HM 2011 Terrence Holt, APB NON-SCHOLARSHIP/MID-MAJOR NON-SCHOLARSHIP/MID-MAJOR 1950 L.E.
