BRIDGNORTH RFC v RFC

Midlands Premier Saturday 18th January 2020 Kickoff 14:15 ‘‘Bromsgrove RFC – we welcome you back to an old stomping ground!’’ It is most pleasing to welcome an ‘old adversary’ to The EDG this afternoon Ltd for the return fixture of our League calendar. I hope that President, David Wellington (Welly), the players and supporters of Bromsgrove RFC enjoy their afternoon with us here in Bridgnorth. Hopefully, your generous FOR ALL YOUR BUILDING AND FARMING NEEDS hospitality in early October at Finstall Park will be reciprocated in full this afternoon. Cheers! In days past, unmistakeable vocal support - ‘Come on Town’- from the Wing Co. and some counter Building Materials Kitchen & Bathrooms choice words from his good rugby friend Edgar Davies never failed to encourage both teams to up Landscaping Roofing Materials their endeavours! Our game was richer for the presence of such huge personalities and both clubs, to this day, respect their memory and loyal service. Timber Plumbing & Heating It is also a great pleasure to welcome Don Howells (Oswestry RFC), current President of RFU, and Keith Skirving (Kidderminster RFC), North RFU Volunteer Coordinator to our club Bricks & Blocks Civil Engineering today. Two fine rugby stalwarts visiting our club on behalf of the County and North Mids. Our club Paints Fencing will be presented with The Shropshire Cup for its on field success but, equally as important, Don and Keith will be assessing the strength of our ongoing volunteer and community work Thank you OPEN TO TRADE AND PUBLIC both for spending your precious time with us, we hope that you enjoy a lovely afternoon. Many thanks go to our M and J volunteers and players who took part in the annual Santa Run. The specially adapted Santa Sleigh brings great festive cheer to the town’s streets/estates and wider locality during its jingle bell journeys on ten or so evenings prior to Christmas Day. Well done all. Following two disappointing results either side of the holiday period I have no doubt that our boys will be aiming to make amends today. However, we are fully aware that Bromsgrove RFC will provide a stern challenge. The form book suggests an even and tight contest where every player will have to be on his mettle and well disciplined. Vocal home support could make all the difference so do your best to get behind our talented team. Yes, ‘come on town’ but more so, “Come on ‘North”! The man in the middle today is Peter Connor. We hope that he experiences a sporting welcome and a game that is contested in the true spirit of rugby football. Thank you Peter. Enjoy your afternoon at The EDG and at our clubhouse on the bridge. Alun – Club President

Next week v Dudley - North Midlands Semi Final Cup MatchCustom - EDG 2pmmade chairs for everyone www.thechairgroup.co.uk www.thechairgroup.co.uk Good afternoon all and welcome back to the Edgar Davies Ground for an afternoon of what I’m sure will be entertaining rugby despite the recent weather conditions. Today we welcome back Bromsgrove who have gone from strength to strength since being promoted into the league. Given the game early on in the season at their ground we know we are in for a very competitive and physical encounter which means we have to ensure we perform for a full 80 minutes. Despite a disappointing loss to Broadstreet last week after a long break numbers have been outstanding at training, with Dan Griffiths and the injured Cal Madden putting the forwards through their paces, and Rod Petty making sure the backs are back to their try scoring ways. The team cannot wait to get out there this afternoon to right the wrongs of last week and I am sure those watching will not be disappointed. Enjoy the game (Hopefully the rain will stay away!) and I look forward to catching up with some of you afterwards in the clubhouse. Sam Brown
