Fatty acids and other non lipid components present in plant oils help keep our skin healthy.
A plant oil’s structure is made up of a triglycerides – a triglyceride contains one glycerol head and three fatty acid chains.
The various combination of these fatty acids make up the varieties of plant oils available to us.
Fatty acids are saturated, or polyunsaturated.
. Saturated is solid at room temperature
. Unsaturated are always liquid oils. They are further grouped in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated
. Polyunsaturated can contain Essential Fatty Acids Linoleic Acid and Linolenic Acid. Mineral Oil
Other names are white oil, paraffin, or petroleum
Not compatible with human lipids
Interferes with absorption of fat soluble nutrients
