Fresh from a strong day’s trade on Tuesday, pinhookers were once again out in force as they looked to accumulate stock for future store sales and the chance to buy some quality sons of the eminent Robin Des Champs resulted in several of the week’s Currency highest prices. Indeed, the top-priced foal of this year’s sale came in the shape of the Robin Des Champs colt (Lot 889) from Hillview Stud. A full- brother to the Jack Barber-trained winning point-to-pointer Matters Judge John Deed, this colt was the subject of a battle between Brendan Bashford and trainer Ian Ferguson. The latter bought this gelding’s brother for €48,000 during the yearling section of this auction last year, while he also picked up the subsequent star novice hurdler Yorkhill for €41,000 as a foal Euro at this sale a number of years ago. Having been beaten for another Robin Des Champs a few minutes previously, Ferguson was not to be denied and he succeeded when bringing the price to €70,000. up 28% “We missed out on the other Robin Des Champs, but we were pleased to get this colt. He’s a lovely foal, by a proven sire and he comes from a proper pedigree. I’ve bought him for Wilson Dennison against STERLING and we’ll take him home along with the others that we’ve bought since December 2015 and bring him along. I doubt he will be reoffered,” said Ferguson. * Rates as at 1st Dec ‘15 & 28th Oct ‘16 Just six lots previously, Ferguson made a strong play for an excellent son of Robin Des Champs who hailed from the noted QAir fare assistance available subject to purchase nursery that is Yellowford Farm. He’s by Robin Des Champs and he’s got a fine pedigree too, so I was pleased to get him. Hopefully he’ll be back here for sale in a few year’s time,” reflected Williamson, who has previously had the likes of the high-class through his hands. The day’s top price did come under threat late on when Michael Murphy of Longways Stables outlasted Aiden Murphy for a €65,000 son of Martaline belonging to Kevin and Noel Heaney. CARTIER RACING AWARD CHAMPION STAYER

A 2017 nomination to first season sire Protectionist (Monsun) is to be auctioned next week, with the entire proceeds going to the stricken German-born jockey Freddy Tylicki. The sale will be handled by Germany´s bloodstock sales company BBAG and bids will be accepted via their website www.bbag-sales-de, starting at noon (local time) next Wednesday, November 16th and ending at 17.00 (local time) on Friday, 18th November. The nomination has been made available by owners Australian Bloodstock, explained their German representative Ronald Rauscher on Wednesday. The six-year-old Protectionist was retired last week after an eventful, but highly-successful career, which saw him successful in Gr.1 races on two continents, the Melbourne Cup in 2014 and the Grosser Preis von Berlin this July. He is to stand at Gestut Rottgen at an advertised fee of €6,500. There has been a huge wave of sympathy in Germany for Tylicki’s plight; the 30-year-old has not only ridden there frequently, he was born in Cologne and spent his early childhood there, as his father Andrzej was stable jockey for many years to the record Champion Trainer Heinz Jentzsch. DCS four-year-old got some way back, as one might expect of a filly who stays a mile and a half well, but she finished to good effect and won quite cosily from two others that were also held up, Dubai Fashion (Dubawi) and Lady Of Camelot (), the latter finishing like a train; she too wants further, ideally. Two people that are very familiar with the first-season sire are David and Julie Martin, the owners of Cable Bay when he raced. Julie Martin expressed how pleased she was to see Cable Bay and stated: “We had received big offers from Australia, but we are most happy to see him as a stallion at Highclere Stud.” was then presented to the crowd, himself a proven Classic sire with 2,000 Guineas and dual Gr.1 winner Galileo Gold. Jake Warren said: “We had a terrific turn out on Tuesday and received great feedback from breeders on both Cable Bay and Paco Boy, it seems they are both going to be busy again next year, which is fantastic.” CALL: +44 (0) 1638 66 65 12 17 RACING REVIEW EBN: THURSDAY, 10TH NOVEMBER 2016 placed dam of the Gr.1 winner and sire Animal Kingdom (Leroidesanimaux). follow EBN on twitter Dominante has a yearling full-sister to the winner that has been named Daytona Beach (sold for €26,000 to Axel Donnerstag @bloodstocknews Bloodstock at the BBAG September Yearling Sale). 6.25 KEMPTON PARK, EBF 2YO MAIDEN, 6FAW Scottish, as well as other Group winners Royal Empire and Combat Zone, and the Group-placed Bikini Babe and Zut Alors; dam of the Gr.3-placed Peut Etre and the Listed-placed Baccarat).
