Under Siebenthall’s leadership, the Braves finished with an overall record of 19-13 and a fifth place finish in the KCAC with a record of 15-9. Ottawa had three players earn All-KCAC honors. Isaiah Palmer was named First Team and Tasmania Indiana Jones and Ryan Haskins earned Honorable Mention honors. The Braves were ranked 16th in NAIA Division II in total offensive rebounds (1,262), 18th in total points scored (2,710), 18th in total blocks (109), 24th in blocks per game (3.4), 26th in total assists (500), 31st in scoring offense per game (84.6), 32nd in total rebounds per game (39.4), 37th in defensive rebounds per game (28.5), 40th in free throw percentage (.733), 41st in assists per game (15.6), 48th in field goal percentage (.464), 49th in total rebound margin (1.9), and 50th in offensive rebounds per game (10.9).

The 2017-18 Braves finished the season with an overall record 12-16 and a KCAC record of 11-11. OU had four Braves earn All-KCAC honors, Isaiah Palmer (2nd), Titus Rice (3rd), Hollis Mitchell (HM), and Tasmania Indaiana Jones (HM). Ottawa finished the season ranked seventh in the NAIA in offensive rebounds per game (13.7), 12th in total rebounds per game (41.7), 37th in total rebound margin (4.2), 34th in free throw per- centage (.729), 35th in defensive field goal percentage (.436), 36th in defensive rebounds per game (27.9), and 40th in total offensive rebounds (1,168).

Under Siebenthall’s leadership the 2016-17 Braves finished with an overall record of 14-17 and a record of 11-11 in the KCAC. The Braves had three players earn All-KCAC honors with Logan Bullinger, Titus Rice, and Hollis Mitchell being named to the teams. OU moved on to the second round of the KCAC Tournament, defeating the University of Saint Mary. It was OU’s first win in Leavenworth since Feb. 23, 2010. The Braves also excelled off the court. OU was named the KCAC Team of Character for its work in the community for the second time in three years.

Three Braves were also named Daktronic Scholar Athletes and Logan Bullinger became the first OU men’s basketball player to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 First Team. The Braves finished the year ranked 16th in NAIA Division II in defensive rebounds per game (29.3), 19th in defensive field goal percentage (.425), 30th in total steals (229), 34th in blocks per game (3.3), 35th in steals per game (7.3), 36th in total blocks (104), 41st in assists per game (15), 42nd in total assists (468), 44th in free throw percentage (.719), and 49th in total offensive rebounds (1,164).

In Siebenthall’s first season at the helm 2015-16 Braves finished with an overall record of 14-16 and a fourth place finish in the KCAC with a re- cord of 10-10. Under his leadership OU had three players named to the All-KCAC teams with Preston Oakes being named Second Team, Marshon Norfleet earning Third Team honors, and Alex Hasty being named to the KCAC All-Defensive Team. The Braves excelled in the classroom and had the most student-athletes named Daktronic Scholar Athletes in NAIA Division II. As a team the Braves finished ranked 16th in NAIA Division II in defensive rebounds per game (29.1), 30th in free throw percentage (.728), 33rd in defensive field goal percentage (.425), 36th in total rebounds per game (39.8), 40th in defensive 3-pt field goal percentage (.336), and 47th in scoring offense per game (80.3).

In his role as associate head coach on former head coach Andy Carrier’s staff, Siebenthall developed a reputation as an exceptional recruiter, having served as the Recruiting Coordinator for the men’s team all nine years of his tenure. During that time, he developed relationships with an extensive network of coaches at the high school, junior college and college levels across the country, which has extended the quality and quan- tity of the recruiting pool from which OU has drawn. He also managed many of the operational aspects of the men’s program and is known as a topflight organizer in addition to his coaching acumen.

The Carrier-Siebenthall era produced two NAIA Division II National Tournaments, one KCAC Championship, and one KCAC Tournament Champion- ship. The duo also led the Braves to a school single season record of 24 wins in 2007-08 and back-to-back ‘Sweet 16’ appearances in the NAIA National Tournament. In addition, Siebenthall has been instrumental in coaching 18 Daktronic Scholar Athletes, including the most in the country for an NAIA school in 2008; four NAIA All-Americans; seven First Team All-KCAC Players; one Second Team All-KCAC Player; one Third Team All- KCAC Player, three All-Freshmen Team Players; three Defensive Team Players; and one KCAC Player of the Year.

Siebenthall began his career at the University of Kansas as a women’s basketball practice player. He simultaneously served as the Head Basket- ball Coach for the Kansas Kings AAU youth league. In 2000, he transitioned to Lawrence High School as the Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach and Head JV Coach, where he further developed his coaching style and philosophy before coming to Ottawa in 2006. With a Master of Arts in Educa- tion, Siebenthall also teaches in the University’s School of Education as an Assistant Professor and is highly prized by his students and his dean as a teacher.

Siebenthall and his wife Shayla, who is the Director of Cheer/Dance/STUNT at Ottawa University, have two daughters, Berkley and Elle.
