Wynwood 12.Broward County 10.Port of Miami/PortMiami 13.Pompano Beach Connection 2 Existing and Under Construction Stations & Connections West Palm Beach Brightline Station - Boca Raton Brightline Station - Fort Lauderdale Brightline Station - Aventura Brightline Station - MiamiCentral Brightline Station - Tri-Rail Downtown Miami Link Station - Northwood Connection - IRIS/Little River Connection 3 West Palm Beach Brightline Station • Brightline purchased the land for $3.8 million • Brightline received up to $2.5 million in tax credits, & $1.3 million in development bonuses • Brightline built a new station, residential tower, new access road, & other infrastructure improvements 4 Boca Raton Station • $46 million project • City contributed $16,350,000 toward station + parking garage construction via DOT grant • City provided a lease agreement for land, minimum of $1 per year 400 NW 2nd Avenue, Boca Raton, FL Service anticipated mid-2022 5 Fort Lauderdale Station • Brightline purchased or owned the land so no agreement exists • Station covers an area of 60,000 sq.ft • Includes 218+ sq.ft park-and-ride facility with a 576 vehicle 101 NW 2nd Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL capacity In-service starting January 13, 2018 6 Aventura Station • $76.7 million total cost • Lease Agreement and Bridge Permit Agreement between Brightline and Miami-Dade County • County authorized 3-acre property acquisition for $18 million plus closing costs • County agreed to fund up to $57.4 million for construction of rail & 19700 West Dixie Highway and 19825 NE 26th Avenue, station infrastructure using their Ojus, FL surtax funding Expected to be completed by fall of 2021 with flexibility to not launch until late 2022 7 Downtown Miami/MiamiCentral Station • Brightline purchased or owned the land so no agreement exists • Includes 5 tracks, with 3 serving Brightline trains and 2 ultimately serving Tri-Rail trains • 9-acre complex includes 3 million sq.ft of residential, 600 NW 1st Ave, Miami, FL office, commercial, and retail development In-service May 19, 2018 8 Tri-Rail Downtown Miami Link Station • $48.9 million for Tri-Rail Station improvements (plus $16.2 million for Tri-Rail trackage improvements) • $2.1-$2.3 million (per year) for Operations & Maintenance • Access, Operating and Funding Agreement signed between FECR, Brightline and SFRTA • Tri-Rail Trackage Improvements 600 NW 1st Ave, Miami, FL Agreement signed between On-hold. Waiting on positive train control (PTC) approval Brightline & SFRTA from the Federal Rail Administration (FRA) 9 Northwood Connection • Funding partners included FDOT, SFRTA, FECR and CSXT • $13.75 million TIGER grant went towards construction • Crossover link between the SFRC and FEC in Palm Beach County • The crossover will facilitate expansion into Jupiter In the vicinity of 25th Street, West Palm Beach, FL Constructed and active, but not operational 10 IRIS/Little River Connection • Provides rail connection between the SFRC and FEC corridors in Miami-Dade County • SFRTA trackage improvements for access into MiamiCentral cost $17 million • Waiting for positive train East/West Segment and control (PTC) approval from North/South Segment, Miami, FL Federal Rail Administration Constructed, but not operational 11 Stations Actively Under Negotiation/Discussion SMART Plan Northeast Corridor Stations - Port of Miami/PortMiami Station 12 SMART Plan Northeast Corridor Stations • Connects northern Florida International University campus, North Miami, and Miami neighborhoods including El Portal, Little Haiti the Design District, and Wynwood/Edgewater • Interoperable with Aventura and MiamiCentral stations and would connect with Metrorail, Metromover and Tri-Rail • Agreed to $12 million annual access fee in addition to an initial payment of $50 million • Initial Brightline proposal to build 5 stations 6 Locations from North was $350 million Miami, FL to Miami, FL 13 Port of Miami/PortMiami Station • Construction cost is estimated at $15.2 million • Miami-Dade County earmarked a one-time contribution of $5.2 million • Brightline will cover $10 million, along with maintenance, and contribute $35 million in rolling stock • The County expects to recoup $49 1015 North America Way, Miami, FL (Terminal H) million over a 30-year period Under negotiations. Originally forecasted completion through a $2 passenger fee by end of 2020. 14 Future Locations of Interest for Stations and/or Connections Treasure Coast Brightline Stations of Interest - Broward County Brightline Stations of Interest - Pompano Beach Connection 15 Treasure Coast Stations • Brightline asked cities in the area to submit proposals for station locations • Fort Pierce and Stuart expressed interest • Martin County lawsuit terms included splitting the cost of building at least one train station including safety upgrades along To be determined, but Stuart, FL noted as likely location the railroad tracks Finalized legal settlement and potential for future station in Martin County 16 Broward County Stations • MOU currently in-process between the County and FDOT to continue the PD&E study • New River crossing has been a fatal flaw in past discussions due to the desire of a tunnel by the City of Fort Lauderdale • Stakeholder consensus, feasible alternatives, and funding are To be determined, but link is currently proposed needed to see this move forward from Aventura to Deerfield Beach, FL Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in-process between Broward County and FDOT 17 Pompano Beach Connection • Provides rail connection between SFRC and FEC corridors allowing crossover service in Broward County • Anticipated connection cost $77.7 million • Slated for 2026-2030 per Broward MPO MTP/LRTP • Coordination occurred in 2019 between the Broward MPO, FDOT, To be determined, but initial location was in the Atlantic and one property owner who was Boulevard vicinity not interested Not constructed and no ongoing study or activity 18 Questions?.
