During the squabble the egg got knocked out of the nest, fell to the earth, and broke. The story is analogous to a generation of youth who can cite every ecological concern and at the same time destroy the very fabric of personal happiness and social survival. I am referring to the generation of youth who were born in the early sixties while the college profs were debating the relative merits of the new morality espoused in Fletcher's book Situational Ethics. The young people in college today - many ready to graduate - are the victims of situational ethics and I should like to explain why. The moral code adopted by today's youth is given to them by way of their music, movies, TV, a considerable amount of their literature, and in some cases teachers and parents. The cultural emphasis centered on freedom of expression which at once eliminates the traditional standards of conduct and modesty.
