End-Of-Year Mach Totals for 2014 AAKKCC AAGGIILLIITTYY SSTTAATTSS END-OF-YEAR MACH TOTALS FOR 2014 END-OF-YEAR RANKINGS FROM THE REGULAR CLASSES In 2014 the AKC ® agility program celebrated its 20 year anniversary, with 3533 agility trials held, 1,235,953 entries recorded and 51, 043 total new agility titles were earned in 2014. In 2014, 976 dogs earned their first MACH title. MACH38 is the highest agility title earned to date in the AKC agility program and one dog has achieved this title. NAC MACH38 Pinpaps Jonquil Of Skipnlena MXS9 MJB10 FTC1 MFC TQX T2B, a Papillon, owned by Robin Kletke and Robin Cohen earned this honor. Peterson 20” - NAC MACH6 Hidden Valley Mynx MXS2 MJC2 FTC1 MFB2 TQX T2B11 CAA, a Border Collie owned by Robin Kletke & Robin Cohen 24”- MACH15 Jcpioneer's Ganesha MXC4 MJS5 NAP OJP MXF MFS TQX T2B3, a Poodle owned by Russell Thorpe & Ann Thorpe 26” - MACH14 No Limit MXS4 MJG4 MXF MFC TQX T2B6, a Border Collie owned by Jamie Herren Each year, AKC honors the Top Dogs of each breed at a banquet held at the AKC Agility Invitational (AGI), with a Special Award of Merit based on the end-of-year rankings shown on the following pages. These dogs may, or may not be the dogs in - vited to compete at the AGI, as the dogs invited to the AGI are ranked with statistics from mid-year to mid-year (July 1-June 30). The ranking statistics are reported using the following score formula, (double Q’s x 10) + MACH points. Example 1,100 MACH points + (40 Double Q’s x 10) would equal a score of 1,500 points. This score is used to announce the Top MACH dog for the year and to award special Award of Merit certificates to the top dogs for each breed annually. The lifetime statistics will con - tinue to be ranked by Title/Points/2Q’s as in the past. We are looking forward to another exciting year of Agility in 2014.     Black Women in Primetime Soap Opera: Examining Representation within Genre Television by Courtney Suggs A Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of Requirements for the Degree of Master of Science in Media Studies Middle Tennessee State University December 2019 Dissertation Committee: Dr. Katie Foss, Chair Dr. Sanjay Asthana Dr. Sally Ann Cruikshank ABSTRACT Using textual genre analysis, this research studied representation in primetime soap operas Scandal, How To Get Away with Murder, and Empire. Two hundred and eighty- three episodes were viewed to understand how black female identity is represented in primetime soap and how genre influences those representation. Using Collins (2009) theory of controlling images, this study found that black female protagonists were depicted as jezebels and matriarchs. The welfare mother stereotype was updated by portrayals of black woman as hard working. It bears little resemblance to life as I know it, but I can't take my eyes off the damn thing.” (Stephen King, Entertainment Weekly, 01/02-2007) I Abstract What happens when you combine the long tradition of film noir and the contemporary television teen drama? Through genre analysis, this thesis explores how the television show Veronica Mars (2004-2007) mixes noir and teen drama and how this creates a dark vision of society and teen life. Through four chapters I investigate key points of the show, such as the narration and aesthetics, the representation of the noir universe through the show’s depiction of social class inequalities and an incapacitated criminal justice system, the show’s exploration of teen drama themes and how this is affected by noir and finally, an analysis of the main characters and how they relate to this hybrid universe. Noir and teen elements pulsate throughout the entire show. Together they create a tense, paranoid and mysterious atmosphere and allow the show to repeatedly explore dark themes and plots that do not commonly appear in teen dramas. The teen private investigator protagonist Veronica must tackle mysteries ranging everywhere from disappearances, blackmail, scams and theft, to situations where she must deceive the FBI, confront and battle a serial rapist and solve the mass murder of her fellow classmates, all while making her way through high school and college.
