The George Washington Chapter was chartered in its present form on April 2, 1954. With over 240 members, it is Virginia’s largest SAR chapter. SAR War Service Medals On August 1st, William G. Anderson and his son, William S. Anderson were awarded SAR War Service Medals by Richard Rankin, GW Chapter Treasurer. Due to the current COVID19 pandemic, these awards were presented at Compatriot Anderson's home. William "Bill" Anderson was a combat USAF pilot in Vietnam. William "Scott" Anderson was a combat Navy pilot in Iraq. Scott Anderson is currently a commercial airline pilot and was on his flight assignments at the time of this award presentation.

Dr. Chevalier Presented Certificate Speaker Jamie Callender Our speaker for September 12, 2020 will be our own compatriot Jamie Callender. Jamie will be speaking on the new NSSAR Patriot Research System and how we as individuals can participate in making the information on our own ancestors in the PRS complete and accurate. Jamie has been married 45 years this month, and has three grown children, all living here in Virginia, and seven grandchildren. Jamie joined the SAR in 2011 and accepted the challenge of leading the Graves Marking Committee, which lead to his involvement with the NSSAR Patriot Index system. Seeing the need to transition that system to a web-hosted solution, he and two others designed, developed and deployed what is today called the Patriot Research System (PRS). Bronze Good Citizenship Medal Awarded On July 25, Dr. Antoine Chevalier was awarded the SAR Bronze Good Citizenship Medal by Paul Walden, Past President and current Board of Managers. Due to the current COVID 19 pandemic, the award was presented at Compatriot Walden’s home. Dr. Antoine Chevalier, the father of GWSAR compatriot Luc Chevalier, is a natural health practitioner. His award is based on his treatment (without charge) to over 100 veterans suffering from service related conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, brain injuries, and substance abuse. Many of them were homeless as well. Compatriot Walden received a letter recommending him for Dr. Chevalier and his son, Compatriot Luc the award by one of these veterans. Chevalier.

You may make your reservation for the luncheon in one of two ways. First, you may complete this form and mail it with your check to the address below. The cost of the meal is $35.00 per person. To help ensure receipt, please put “RESERVATION” followed by your last name in the subject line. You will receive an email confirming receipt of your reservation. Check & Cash payments will be collected at the door.
