Press Release September 3, 2011 No Press Release September 3, 2011 No. M 119/11 American Le Mans Series, round 7 in Baltimore, USA Wolf Henzler and Porsche win in front of record crowd Stuttgart. Successful premiere for Porsche on the new Baltimore city course: In front of a record crowd of 150,000 spectators, Wolf Henzler celebrated his second win of the season at round seven of the American Le Mans Series. Co-driven by his Ameri- can teammate Bryan Sellers, the German Porsche works driver won the GT class at a gripping two hour race in the US state of Maryland. As the most efficient GT race car in the field, their #17 Porsche also won the environmental Michelin Green X Chal- lenge award. “The race on this track was great fun. And we were able to prove that we can win even if it’s not wet,” said Wolf Henzler. “Our car was excellently set-up for the race and the Falken Tires didn’t deteriorate at all. That was certainly one of the keys to success. Apart from that I was lucky enough to make it through the turmoil of the first corner right at the start.” Bryan Sellers added: “As always, Wolf drove incredibly well. And for me personally, it was one of my best races. The entire team works very hard and they really earned this success.” After their victory at the rain race in Mid-Ohio, Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellers con- tinued the upward trend of the Falken team in Baltimore. With a good start, which put him within striking distance of the front-runners in the first lap, Wolf Henzler launched a breathtaking chase through the field and grabbed the lead in lap 16 when he over- took the leader on the outside of a right-hand corner. Bryan Sellers, who took the wheel from Henzler after one hour and rejoined the race in third place, put in an im- Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Shortly after a caution phase, he moved back into the lead and pulled clear of the field by one lap when the chequered flag came out. “This race in Baltimore is a fantastic addition to the American Le Mans Series. The spectators were treated to some super motorsport,” said Head of Porsche Motor- sport, Hartmut Kristen. “Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellers drove a tactically clever and faultless race. And the Paul Miller Racing squad also performed impressively. Des- pite intense pressure, Sascha Maassen brought his fourth place safely home.” With the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR fielded by the US customer team, Sascha Maassen (Germany) and Bryce Miller (USA) reached the finish ahead of the best-placed Fer- rari and rounded off a great weekend for Porsche in the streets of Baltimore. At the same time, it was their best result in the American Le Mans Series by now. Another Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in the top ten of the high-carat starter field was the Flying Lizard Motorsports racer with which Americans Darren Law and Seth Neiman yielded eighth place. Bad luck hit Porsche works drivers Joerg Bergmeister (Ger- many) and Patrick Long (USA): After a good start, the reigning champions had to pit with a broken drive shaft. This cost them 14 laps to the lead and they finished in eleventh place. Two-time Supercup champion Jeroen Bleekemolen (Netherlands) clinched victory in the GTC class with his American teammate Tim Pappas at the wheel of their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Round 8 of the American Le Mans Series takes off on 17 September in Laguna Seca in the US state of California. GO Dr. Ing. h.c. F. The KÜS Team75 Bernhard will tackle the pro-category of the 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, with a Porsche 911 GT3 R. Herberth Motor- sport fields two Porsche 911 GT3 R at the event from July 27 to 30 driven by profes- sional and amateur drivers. Inaugurated in 1924, the 24 Hours of Spa has a long tra- dition. The squad of the two-time Le Mans winner and team owner Timo Bernhard can rely on the Porsche works drivers Michael Christensen (Denmark), Kévin Estre (France) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium). Vanthoor has a wealth of racing experience at his home circuit and won the endurance classic in 2014. One of Herbert Motorsport’s contenders will be manned by Porsche works driver Sven Müller (Germany), Porsche Young Professional Mathieu Jaminet (France) and the amateur pilots Daniel Alle- mann (Switzerland) and Ralf Bohn (Germany). Press Release May 3, 2015 No. M 50/15 Tudor United SportsCar Championship, round 4 in Laguna Seca/USA Victory for the 911 GT America – podium for the 911 RSR Stuttgart. A successful outcome to an eventful race weekend for Porsche’s GT teams: At Laguna Seca/USA, the Porsche works pilots Patrick Pilet (France) and Mi- chael Christensen (Denmark) scored the first podium of the year for Porsche North America, clinching third place in the GTLM class in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship after a sensational charge through the field in the 911 RSR. Ameri- cans Patrick Lindsey and Spencer Pumpelly celebrated their maiden win of the season with the 911 GT America in the GTD class. On Saturday, the Porsche Man- they team had already snatched two GTE-Pro-class podium spots in the Sports Car World Endurance Championship WEC at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps: With the 911 RSR, Frédéric Makowiecki (France) and Richard Lietz (Austria) were flagged off in second, with Kévin Estre (France) and Sven Müller (Germany) concluding their strong WEC debut in third place. At Laguna Seca, Patrick Pilet turned heads when he overtook two competitors right at the start of the race on the 3.601-kilometre dune circuit not far from Monterey. At the wheel of his 470 hp 911 RSR, which is based on the seventh generation of the iconic 911 sports car, and last year won the American long distance classics at Day- tona, Sebring and Petit Le Mans, he then set out in pursuit of the leader. However, when the Frenchman pulled in for his first pit stop shortly before the end of a safety car phase, and the field went green again whilst he was still in the pits, he suddenly found himself at the back of the strongly-represented GT field with Porsche North America’s #911 Porsche 911 RSR.

Press Release September 2, 2011 No. M 118/11 American Le Mans Series, round 7 in Baltimore, USA Best Porsche in the third grid row Stuttgart. At the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR fielded by Flying Lizard Motor- sports, Porsche works driver Patrick Long (USA) secured the third quickest time in qualifying on the new street circuit of Baltimore – but still has to take up round seven of the American Le Mans Series on Saturday from the back of the GT field. The rea- son: In one of his fast laps, he bumped a Ferrari which was blocking the racing line in front of him in first gear on a cool-down lap. Due to this incident, the race steward decided to exclude both drivers from the qualifying. “You can’t be running in first gear on the racing line in a qualifying session that lasts only 15 minutes. It’s simply not fair to the others when you block the racing line if you’re not going to go at racing speed,” said Patrick Long. His works driver colleague Joerg Bergmeister (Germany), who shares driving duties in the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, said: “It’s a shame to be excluded. In the short time we were out on the track today our pace was improving from lap to lap and Patrick’s third quickest time is proof that we are well prepared for the race. Now we have to be patient and keep out of trouble so that we can push through the field again. The track is very bumpy and there are only a few overtaking possibilities.

No. 56 June 29, 2014 Magnus Racing Leads Porsche 911 GT America Teams with Podium, Dempsey Racing Fourth In GTD Class Tandy Grabs Top-Five in Last Lap Shootout at Six Hours of the Glen; Porsche 911 RSR Trio All Top-10 Watkins Glen, New York. Despite being the shortest of the endurance races on the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship schedule, the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen is traditionally one of the most difficult. That was proven today here at Watkins Glen International as the two-car Porsche 911 RSR factory effort, Porsche North America, finished fifth and eighth in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class. The Team Falken Tire customer-owned Porsche 911 RSR finished ninth. The GT Daytona class battle was equally intense, as Magnus Racing took third in their Porsche 911 GT America followed closely by the Dempsey Racing Porsche 911 GT America in fourth. Porsche 911 RSR Starting tenth, the No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR ran consistently near the front of the GTLM pack throughout the six-hour race. With works drivers Nick Tandy (Great Britain) and Richard Lietz (Austria) splitting driving duties on the historic track in the Finger Lakes region of New York, the No. 911 was seventh as a caution flew with 10-minutes remaining. A dedicated effort by safety and corner workers cleared the caution-causing incident with time for a last lap battle to the checkered flag. Entering the last corner of the 3.4-mile, 11-turn facility, several cars made contact ahead of the No.

  • Speed, Strategy on Display for Michelin in Monterey
PRESS INFORMATION SPEED, STRATEGY ON DISPLAY FOR MICHELIN IN MONTEREY Wide range of temperatures and strategies play to Michelin’s various strengths at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca Monterey, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2019) --- WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca proved a particularly apt track name for Michelin teams in IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and MICHELIN Pilot Challenge series competitors this weekend. The sandy, abrasive, notoriously low-grip but high-wear surface is a known quantity to most competitors. However, unseasonably warm temperatures on Friday threw a curveball as teams worked to optimize both their MICHELIN® tire strategy in tandem with fuel strategy for the pair of races. Extreme swings occurred throughout the weekend. On Friday, Michelin engineers recorded temperatures as high as 93 degrees ambient and 115 degrees track. Sunday morning, the coldest session of the weekend occurred in warm-up with temperatures of 57 ambient and 60 track. Sunday’s race was more normal with temperatures in the low 70s ambient and mid 80s on track. These variances make it challenging for a team’s tire strategy and ask the tire to perform consistently in wide-ranging conditions. For this race, Michelin and IMSA coordinated to bring the MICHELIN® Pilot® Sport GT S8M commercial slicks back in action for the WeatherTech Championship GT Daytona and Pilot Challenge GS classes after running the S9M over the summer months. However, Michelin maintained its IMSA Hard tire for DPi and LMP2 competitors, and the Pilot Challenge TCR remained on the harder S9M compound as they have all season. The mix of tires still helped teams continue to set lap records in both qualifying and the two races.
