Our goals for the Promenade focus on: • A space for the City and Community • Accommodate all users for all of Calgary • Connect people to River • Builds a vibrant centre city riverfront • Design a diversity of social spaces for mental well- being • Promoting active, healthy lifestyles, incorporate strategies for year-round healthy, active lifestyles – a better space for walking, jogging, biking, etc. • Provide a continuous, safe and accessible riverfront promenade • Designate efficient pathways for safe alternate modes of transportation like scooters

Eau Claire Plaza Redesign

Goals of the Plaza redesign are: • Vibrancy • Flexibility • Sustainability • Authenticity • Connectivity • Accessibility

The plaza is the gateway into this area and a destination that compliments the Eau Claire Promenade, West Eau Claire Park, Prince's Island Park and Jaipur Bridge.

What We Heard: Overall

The City hosted online engagement to provide citizens with an overview of the project and collect input on the 3 Avenue South Walking and Wheeling Upgrades project. The online engagement was available from August 12 – September 2, 2020. The online page received approximately 3836 views with 864 contributions of feedback. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, The City of Calgary was unable to host in-person engagement opportunities, however the online engagement was extended to collect feedback.

Construction Impact

Core work hours : • 7am – 7pm • Monday – Saturday *there is potential for work outside core hours as needed & communication will be provided in advance

What to expect: • An increase in noise and vibrations throughout construction. • Installation of piles that will generate ground vibrations in localized areas. • Soil disturbance and dust emissions. • An increase in truck and equipment traffic accessing the construction site(s) and surrounding areas. • Pathway, sidewalk, and roadway closures and detours.

Construction & Community Impacts • Our commitment to keeping business accesses open throughout construction.

• Lagoon will be drained in July 2021, and remain empty until April 2022 for construction.

Tree Impacts & Removal

• To complete the Jaipur Bridge Replacement, Downtown Flood Barrier & Eau Claire Promenade, and Eau Claire Plaza Redesign, 160 trees on the south side of the will be removed.

• Tree removal anticipated to start November 2020.

Eau Claire Area Improvements

Construction Timeline

Construction for the enabling works is expected to start in the winter of 2020 with project completion expected by the fall of 2023. Construction will be phased to minimize impact and keep Prince's Island Park accessible at all times.
