Jane Abramovich: A2F Practice Group, TechnoServe Inc., [email protected]

Prior to joining TechnoServe, Jane has held financial advisory and deal origination roles, both in the US and in the emerging markets, including at UBS Investment Bank, and most recently as National Director of Capital Markets at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a global real estate firm. At TechnoServe, Jane leads TechnoServe's global Access to Finance Practice Group, which manages strategic regional and global financial relationships, provides technical expertise to project teams, shares best practices, innovations and knowledge with industry partners. Jane holds a BA in Economics and International Studies from Northwestern University and an MPA in International Development from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

Olawale Anifowose: General Manager, Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University, [email protected]

Olawale Anifowose graduated from the university of lagos in 2000 with a bachelors degree in Economics, and completed his masters degree in marketing in 2009 also from the University of Lagos. He started out with Wema Bank Plc as a youth corper and was retained in 2001, later Olawale joined Campaign and Concept a brand and marketing organization where he gained reasonable experience in relationship management in 2003. In July 2003, Olawale joined the Enterprise Development Services now Enterprise Development Centre as a research assistant and was part of the team that set up the administrative structure of the organization; He was also responsible for program coordination and marketing. Olawale has now gained 11years experience in SME Development and has being part of the team that successfully implemented several SME development projects such as the Youth with innovation in Nigeria (YOUWIN), Federal Government of Nigeria business plan competition. He has been the National coordinator of the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Nigeria in the last 3 years. Olawale has over the years provided business advisory to participants of the entrepreneurship management program, this has built his capacity to offer very credible business advisory to SMEs. He has also reviewed thousands of business proposals over the years. He regularly sits on business plan competition panels; Diamond Bank-Building Entrepreneurs Today, Etisalat- Easy Business millionaire hunt, Goldman Sachs 10,000 women program. Olawale is currently the General Manager, programs and partnership at Enterprise Development Centre and member of the management board.

Anabela Appleton: Company Secretary / Donor Relations Coordinator, ATMS Foundation/AMSCO, [email protected]

Project to assist their skills development initiatives. In 2011 she was instrumental in securing funding for corporate governance training to enterprises in Namibia, Kenya and Ghana. Anabela is also responsible for liaison on all legal matters relating to the ATMS Project in the Netherlands, including statutory requirements for the Foundation and AMSCO BV.

Giselle Aris: Senior Technical Advisor, Land O'Lakes, Inc., [email protected]

Giselle Aris is Senior Technical Advisor for Enterprise Acceleration, Technology and Gender for Land O'Lakes International Development. Land O'Lakes International Development is a division of Land O'Lakes, Inc., the second largest agriculture cooperative in the United States and a Fortune 200 company. Giselle led the collaborative, division-wide development of Land O'Lakes International's strategy to become externally recognized as one of the highest impact enterprise accelerators in operation. She is currently leading and managing the global implementation of this strategy. Giselle began her work with Land O'Lakes based in East and Southern Africa; she is now based in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Land O'Lakes Giselle worked in India's dairy sector for two years, where she designed, managed, and sustainably brought to scale a farmer-owned dairy business. She has also worked with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Women's Campaign International, and the U.S. Department of State Africa Bureau. Giselle holds a master's degree in International Development from the University of Oxford, where she was a Thouron Scholar, and a summa cum laude bachelor's degree in African Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. She has several years of experience working across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, with a primary focus on strengthening small and growing businesses.

Oscar Artiga: Program Manager, TechnoServe Inc., [email protected]

Oscar Artiga is the Program Manager for TechnoServe's regional Entrepreneurship Program, which includes business plan competitions spanning Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Burkina Faso. He previously managed a social entrepreneurship program with TechnoServe in Chile. Oscar has deep experience with Central America's financial system, including work in organizational processes, fraud prevention, project evaluation and management, and market analysis across the region. He holds an MBA from the Universidad Adolfo Ibanez, and a BS in civil engineering from the Universidad Centroamericana.

Philip Auerswald: Adviser, Global Entrepreneurship Research Network, Kauffman Foundation, [email protected]

Philip Auerswald is an associate professor of public policy at George Mason University and senior adviser to the Global Entrepreneurship Research Network at the Kauffman Foundation. His most recent book is The Coming Prosperity: How Entrepreneurs Are Transforming the Global Economy. He is the founder of Innovations, a quarterly journal about entrepreneurial solutions to global challenges. From 2010 to 2013 he was an an advisor to the Clinton Global Initiative, focusing on job creation and market-based solutions.

Dan Awendo: CEO, Investeq Capital, [email protected]

Dan is an accounting and finance professional with over 20 years of post qualification experience in audit, accounting, management consultancy and corporate finance advisory. He is a Certified Public Accountant of

Kenya and a professional Financial Analyst and Management Consultant. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme of Strathmore Business School in Kenya. Dan is the founder and Chief Executive of Investeq Capital Limited, a firm whose goal is to provide financing solutions to SMEs and corporate finance advisory services in the African SME market. Dan has also worked in senior management positions in local and international companies including Loita Capital Partners & Loita Asset Management (General Manager, 2000 – 2003); Loita Holdings Group (Group Financial Controller, 1996 - 2000) and Dominion Consultants Group (Senior Consultant, Finance and Information Management, 1991 – 1996). In addition to serving as a board member of various companies in the telecommunications, real estate and social entreprise sectors, Dan was until end of 2009 a board member of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, a KSh 2.75billion (US$ 36million) fund established by the government in 2006 to fund entrepreneurial development and enterprise activities of the youth in Kenya. Dan is also the chairman of the Investments Committee of the Enablis East African Loan Fund, the Treasurer and Council Member of the Kenya Institute of Management, and a member of an SME Think Tank in Kenya.

Denise Baer: Evaluation Officer, Center for International Private Enterprise, [email protected]

Denise Baer is the Evaluation Officer for the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). As CIPE's principal internal expert on evaluation, she conducts evaluation research and other assessments of CIPE programs, works with CIPE's program staff from the proposal stage to final reporting to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation, and acts as a resource to build evaluation capacity among CIPE staff and partners. Prior to joining CIPE, she has been a consultant providing research, governance and social science consulting for a variety of federal agencies and nonprofit organizations, including international work for USAID, National Democratic Institute, IFES and the Institute for Women's Policy Research. She is an adjunct faculty at Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy and she has worked for the U.S. Congress and the Congressional Research Service. Baer is the author or co-author of three books and scholarly articles which use experimental, survey and qualitative data, and she is completing work on a book Delivering Measurable Performance: Performance Evaluation Methods, Strategies and Tools for Policymaking and Public Management, under contract with SAGE Press. Baer holds a B.A. from the University of Illinois and earned her Ph.D. in political science from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. She is a member of the American and International Political Science Associations, American Evaluation Association, and the National Press Club and serves on the board of the National Women's History Project.

Dan Berelowitz: CEO, International Centre for Social Franchising, [email protected]

Dan is Founder Chief Executive of the International Centre for Social Franchising. The ICSF is a not-for-profit that helps proven social projects replicate. At ICSF Dan has developed successful scaling strategies for a range of organisations from Oxfam to Nike Foundation and PSI, to a number of dynamic smaller organisations globally. One of Dan's current focuses is on scaling primary care in the developing world and he is delivering a research project on this topic with GSK, Gates Foundation, Merck, Save the Children and others. Previously Dan was first director of Tzedek, an NGO working in Ghana and India to alleviate poverty, which more than quadrupled in size during his leadership. Dan is a regular conference presenter, writer, Clore Social Leadership Fellow, has a BSc in Management from Nottingham University, and is a Rothschild Fellow at the Cambridge Judge Business School.

Shari Berenbach: President & CEO, United States African Development Foundation, [email protected]

Shari Berenbach is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the United States African Development Foundation, a public corporation of the U.S. government that awards economic development grants to marginalized and underserved populations in conflict and post-conflict areas of Africa. Her distinguished 30- year career spans from microfinance to international banking. At USAID from 2010-12, she directed the Office of Microenterprise & Private Enterprise Promotion, increasing the reach of financial and market resources to rural areas and smallholder farmers. A pioneer in the impact investing field, Ms. Berenbach served as President and CEO of the Calvert Foundation, a non-profit financial intermediary that mobilizes capital from social investors to meet critical financing needs in communities. Over 14 years, Ms. Berenbach grew the foundation from a pilot project to a $500 million institution serving thousands of investors and hundreds of local financial intermediaries in the US and around the globe. Ms. Berenbach's earlier international development work included in-country programming in more than two dozen countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In the mid-1990s, Ms. Berenbach was engaged in various consultancies – preparing a monograph on banking regulation for microfinance, helping to launch MicroRate, and conducting program design and evaluations on behalf of USAID and the World Bank. Ms. Berenbach served as an Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation, and also has held private sector positions at Solomon Brothers, Citigroup and a start-up telecommunications firm, Radio Movil Digital.

Meg Berger: Vice President, Evaluation and Research, Vital Voices Global Partnership, [email protected]

Marguerite (Meg) Berger is Vice President for Impact, Evaluation and Research with Vital Voices Global Partnership. She has over 30 years of experience in the Americas and Asia, focusing on gender issues, women's economic empowerment, micro and small enterprise development, access to finance, private sector reform and public financial management. She has led program design and execution, monitoring, evaluation and research in these areas. Prior to joining Vital Voices, Meg served in various capacities at the Inter-American Development Bank. She began her career there as Advisor for Women in Development and led the creation of the Women in Development Unit as its first Chief. She is also the former Chief of the Bank's Microenterprise Unit and Grants

and Co-financing Management Unit and was seconded to the Brazilian small business agency, Sebrae, as an advisor to the President. She was an economist at the International Center for Research on Women, and has consulted for the US Small Business Administration, UNCDF, IFAD, USAID and the World Bank. Meg is a Fulbright Scholar with a doctorate in Economics from the American University. She has authored numerous books, articles and evaluations, including An Inside View of Latin American Microfinance (with Goldmark and Miller) and Women's Ventures (with Mayra Buvinic).

Suzanne Biegel: Catalyst at Large, [email protected]

Suzanne is Founder of Catalyst at Large Ltd, is Investment Director for a new project funded by DFID, Nike Foundation, and USAID focused on adolescent girls, and founded and runs the Clearly Social Angels network in the UK for ClearlySo, where she is an adjunct part of the senior team. She serves on the Advisory Board of angel network Investors' Circle, and on the Board of Directors of Confluence Philanthropy, in the US. She is a Catto Fellow at the Aspen Institute. For the past 14 years, Suzanne has been an active , philanthropist, and board member. She founded Women in Social Finance in 2011, in London, with a group of top women in their respective fields. She is Senior Advisor for the Women Effect project from Criterion Institute, and co- founded the Values-Based Investing Circle for Women Donors Network. Suzanne's passion lies in encouraging more women to be social impact investors, and to invest in companies which benefit the lives of women and girls and address the challenges and opportunities of our time.

Peter Bladin: Chief Program & Impact Officer, Global Partnerships, [email protected]

Peter oversees Global Partnerships' (GP) Programs and Impact Initiatives Team, which researches, develops and executes programmatic work across all impact areas. The team provides technical assistance to GP's partners that are using market-sustainable solutions. Peter's team also drives GP's research into new impact areas and impact measurement. Peter joined GP's staff in September 2012, having previously served on its board. Prior to joining GP, Peter was the executive vice president of programs and regions at Grameen Foundation (GF), where he oversaw all microfinance and technology programs as well as the foundation's global strategies. He joined GF in 2001 when he founded the Grameen Technology Center and built it into a global leader in using information and communication technologies (ICT) for alleviating poverty. Peter started his career at Microsoft Corporation in 1987 where he spent a decade in a variety of leadership roles focused on international work, product support and marketing. Peter has served on boards in Africa that focus on providing villages with access to mobile phone technologies. He currently serves on the board of Grameen Foundation and is a frequent speaker at various international development conferences. Peter has a degree in mathematics and economics from the University of Uppsala Sweden.

Amira Bliss: Senior Program Associate, Rockefeller Foundation, [email protected]

Amira Bliss joined The Rockefeller Foundation in 2010. As a Senior Program Associate, Mrs. Bliss manages relationships with current and prospective grantees throughout the grantmaking process, coordinates Foundation work with partners, and conducts research in support of the strategic development and execution of Foundation initiatives. She currently works on supporting more equitable and sustainable transportation in the United States, as well as building the innovation capacity of the Foundation and the social sector. She manages projects and tools, such as Innovation Labs, to surface and spread innovative solutions to achieve greater social impact at scale. Prior to joining the Rockefeller Foundation, Mrs. Bliss served as the Assistant Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP) and an Analyst at Goldman Sachs. Mrs. Bliss received a bachelor's degree from Barnard College and an executive master's of public policy and administration degree from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Mara Bolis: Senior Advisor, Market Systems, Private Sector Dept., Oxfam America, [email protected]

Mara Bolis has over 10 years of experience working in the fields of international development, emerging markets finance and business. Most recently, Mara consulted with the Middle East Investment Initiative, a public-private partnership of the Aspen Institute, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and the Palestinian Investment Fund, to develop a new form of small business to help Palestinian exporters hindered by travel restrictions. Prior to that, she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of as an emerging markets financial sector analyst. She has worked with various international finance and development organizations, including US Export-Import Bank, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the World Bank. She has an MBA from Johns Hopkins and a Masters in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Mara speaks fluent Latvian and basic Russian.

Fernanda Bombardi: Executive Director, ICE (Entrepreneurial Citizenship Institute), [email protected]

Fernanda Bombardi, currently attending MBA in Management of Socio-Environmental Business USP, psychologist formed from the Catholic University of São Paulo and a specialist in local development by the International Labour Organization. In ICE since 2006, conceived, implemented and coordinated the Pajiroba Project - focused on income generation and family farming in the Amazon - until 2009 In 2010 assumed the executive management of the Institute, being co-responsible for the organization's strategy in the area of social finance and social business, team management, budgeting, corporate communication and governance strategies. Has previously worked for AmCham (American Chamber of Comerce of São Paulo), where she completed the Trainee Program Organization and served on the Education Quality Institute, social project created by the organization. Began operating in the social sector still at university, volunteering for community processes in slums in the south of São Paulo.

Susan Bornstein: Senior Manager, Practice Areas and Strategic Partnerships, Land O'Lakes, Inc., [email protected]

Susan Bornstein is Senior Mangaer, Practice Areas and Strategic Partnerships for Land O'Lakes International Development. Land O'Lakes International Development is a division of Land O'Lakes, Inc., the second largest agriculture cooperative in the United States and a Fortune 200 company. Susan joined Land O' Lakes in September 2014. Prior to joining Land O'Lakes Susan worked for 17 years at TechnoServe's Washinngton office. She served as senior director for program development, where she worked with US and field teams in Africa, India and Latin America to design and develop new market system and enterprise development programs with public and private partners. This included design of public-private partnerships with corporates including General Mills, Cargill and John Deere Foundation. Susan's other roles included interim country director for Kenya and acting Africa regional director. Prior, Susan supported agriculture development programs at VOCA. She was also a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal. Susan holds a master's degree in International Transactions (trade, Africa focus) from George Mason University and a bachelor's degree in International Studies (African studies/agriculture economics focus) from Michigan State University. She has over 20 years of experience working across sub-Saharan Africa, with experience in Latin America and India, with a primary focus on market sytems and enterprise development.

Paul Breloff: Managing Director Venture Lab, Accion, [email protected]

Paul Breloff is the founding managing director of the Accion Venture Lab, which invests in the world's most innovative financial inclusion startups. He has advised CGAP (a financial inclusion research center housed at the World Bank) on policy and technical issues related to branchless banking and has been engaged by Root Capital, Shell Foundation, BRAC, and others on access-to-finance issues globally. Previously, Paul worked with SKS Microfinance, India's largest microfinance institution, leading business development and strategic initiatives and assisting on capital raising. While at SKS, he led new product launches and managed strategic partnerships across mobile/mobile banking, energy, education, water, and rural distribution. He has also practiced corporate law with Mayer Brown, worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Co., and worked as an advertising account executive for Leo Burnett. Paul graduated from Amherst College and the Yale Law School.

Michelle Buckles: Director of Sustainable Finance, Rainforest Alliance, [email protected]

Michelle leads Rainforest Alliance's Sustainable Finance Initiative. She is responsible for evaluating the financing needs, capacities and solutions for enterprises and smallholders in RA's sustainable agriculture, forestry and climate programs. Michelle is currently working on projects to increase financing for cocoa productivity improvements in West Africa, implementing RA's new financial literacy and coop business management training programs, enabling technology to more efficiently collect coop information, and "making the business case for sustainability" as Co-Chair of the ANDE Sustainable Agriculture Working Group. Michelle also manages the SFI's global strategy, partnership development, fundraising and project implementation. Previously Michelle was the East Africa Regional Credit Manager for the TechnoServe Coffee Initiative based in Rwanda and Ethiopia for two

years. Michelle has also consulted with Verde Ventures/Conservation International and Impact Assets. Michelle holds a BS in Finance from Indiana University, Bloomington and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. Michelle is based in San Francisco, California.

Deborah Burand: Clinical Assistant Professor, University of Michigan, [email protected]

Deborah Burand is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan Law School. She is the founding director of the Law School's International Transactions Clinic, and she has led a law seminar that focuses on "impact investment lawyering" (lawyering transactions that intentionally generate multiple returns). Her current areas of research include impact investment, social impact bonds, social enterprise, microfranchising and building inclusive business opportunities at the base of the economic pyramid. From August 2010 through October 2011, Deborah took a leave of absence from the Law School to serve as Vice President and General Counsel of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the US government's development finance institution. Prior to directing the launch of the University of Michigan Law School's International Transactions Clinic in 2008, Deborah was active in the microfinance sector where she worked in senior management positions for two global microfinance networks. Deborah also has held senior, internationally-focused positions at the US Federal Reserve Board and US Treasury Department. And she worked as an international corporate attorney at the law firm, Shearman & Sterling, in New York. In 2009 Deborah was the Co-Topic Leader for the Finance track of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). She also is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and former International Affairs Fellow of the Council. Deborah holds a joint graduate degree from Georgetown University, combining law with international business and development (JD/MSFS with honors), and a bachelor degree, cum laude, from DePauw University.

Sönke Buschmann: Director, Sustainable Business Practices, Enclude, [email protected]

Sönke Buschmann: Director, Sustainable Business Practices at Enclude (formerly ShoreBank International Ltd. and Triodos Facet), a global advisory firm delivering integrated capacity and capital solutions designed to meet the human needs of entrepreneurs and small & growing enterprises. Mr Buschmann has 20 years experience in designing, implementing and evaluating programmes, support systems and ecosystem development initiatives to stimulate the growth of private enterprises, empowering entrepreneurs and improving the environmental and social conditions in enterprises and sectors. Mr Buschmann is 8 years with Enclude, and has worked in 26 developing countries on private sector development initiatives.

Maurizio Caio: Founder and Managing Partner, TLcom Capital LLP, [email protected]

Maurizio Caio is the Founder and Managing Partner of TLcom Capital, a London and Nairobi based firm, investing since 1999 in technology-enabled fast growth businesses across Europe, Israel and Sub- Saharan Africa. TLcom has recently launched the TIDE (Technology and Innovation for Developing Economies) Africa Fund, with a target size of $100m. Before TLcom, Maurizio was a Director of Bain & Company, leading the 9

firm's European Technology practice. Previously, he worked at McKinsey, focusing on technology and growth strategy. Maurizio cooperates with the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED) and their innovation centers in Accra and Nairobi, and the GSMA Mobile for Development initiative. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Office. Maurizio has a Summa cum Laude Laurea degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan and New York University, and an MBA from Stanford University.

Bruce Campbell: Chief Legal Officer, Blue Haven Initiative, [email protected]

Bruce is the Chief Happiness Officer of Blue Dot Advocates, and wakes up every day motivated by the opportunity to leverage his profession in service of the global community. With over 15 years of experience as a corporate attorney – including six years at the international law firm Hogan Lovells Bruce brings a true depth of expertise to serve impact investors and entrepreneurs. He has advised clients on transactions worth billions of dollars in the aggregate, ranging from angel financings for start-ups to public offerings for multi-national companies. Bruce has completed corporate transactions on six continents, and he regularly visits with clients and collaborators and reviews projects in Europe, the UK, India and Sub-Saharan Africa. Bruce is himself an impact investor, and has committed to invest 100% of his assets in support of sustainable business practices. He sits on a number of boards of directors, including Impact HUB in his home city of Boulder, Colorado, and an affordable housing development in Nairobi, Kenya called Karibu Homes. When he's not "working,"Bruce enjoys all things outdoors, especially trail running, biking and snowboarding. He also helps facilitate mindfulness retreats as well as a weekly meditation group in Boulder.

Clare Clifton: Pro-Poor Market Development Project Manager, Christian Aid, [email protected]

Clare Clifton is the Inclusive Markets Development Project Manager at Christian Aid - aUK based NGO which works with people, of all faiths and none, in around 50 countries, to eradicate poverty. Clare works with a team of specialist internationally based programme advisors who together shape and deliver markets focused programmes in 15 countries globally. These programmes focus on making agricultural markets more inclusive, particularly for marginalised farmers and also on enabling access to goods and services to improve livelihoods (such as off grid energy products). They also seek to address access to finance for enterprises. She has a specific role developing partnerships in the UK relating to our market programmes with peer NGOs, companies and donors.

Nicholas Colloff: Executive Director, Argidius Foundation, [email protected]

I was born in Stratford upon Avon, was educated at the same school as Shakespeare, before departing for London where I studied theology and philosophy at university. Unsure what to do next, I helped start the Prison Phoenix Trust that teaches meditation and yoga in prisons in the UK. Starting things became a trend, so working for a venture philanthropy fund, I helped launch the microfinance charity, Opportunity International UK and Basic Needs that works on mental health in low income countries. Working for Opportunity, I helped design its global network and launched two microfinance banks in Eastern Europe – in Macedonia and Russia. Midway through life (hopefully) I thought I might become a Dominican but that did not come to pass and I found myself as Oxfam GB's Country Director in Russia, then their Director of Innovation, before finding my way to Zug and the Argidius Foundation.

Taylor Conger: Senior Associate, Echoing Green, [email protected]

As part of the Echoing Green Fellowship team, Taylor provides support to the 2014 class of Global Fellows. Prior to joining us, Taylor designed and managed a domestic fellowship program at the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and previously worked resettling refugees with the International Rescue Committee. Before moving across the country to NYC, Taylor worked closely with globally-minded, socially-driven MBAs as a manager at the Center for Social Innovation at Stanford University. She holds a Master in Public Health in Forced Migration and a Master of Science in Social Work, both from Columbia University.

Giulia Corinaldi: Mentoring Programme Director, Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, [email protected]

Giulia joined the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women in 2010 and has been an integral part of the Foundation's growth. Giulia as Mentoring Director pioneered an innovative online platform that crosses borders to reach entrepreneurs around the world and led the Foundation for 4 months as Interim CEO in 2013. She also serves as Women Working Group Chair for the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs. Endeavor is an international non for profit organization that supports high-impact entrepreneurs. At both SEAD and IPIHD, Logan has a special focus on scaling strategies, business support, and capacity building provided through direct coaching and support, as well as through the development of a curriculum focused on scaling global health companies in emerging markets. Hugh is a qualified chartered accountant who served his articles in one of SA's prominent investment banks. Hugh took on a role as a deal originator in the Debt Capital Markets team catering to a number of blue chip clients in the financial and mining sectors respectively. He also dealt with some of the structured and high yield issuances in the bond market at the time. Subsequent to the successful issuance of the SBK12 and SBK13 structured tier II notes (in excess of R5 billion) in 2009, Hugh left the bank to focus on capital raising for Greenfields and brownfields projects in the mining sector. Southern Resources had been formed for this purpose a few years previously and Hugh was able to successfully bring his clients projects up to production and assist in debt and balance sheet restructurings. With his intricate knowledge and experience in capital raising and credit risk, Hugh joined Nesa Capital later that year and co-founded and oversaw the successful launch of the Nesa Enterprise Development Fund.

Alan Glasgow – Director of Business Development. Alan has over seventeen years' extensive humanitarian and development experience. Following a career in marketing within the private sector, he joined GOAL in 1997 where he worked in an emergency response capacity in Kenya, Angola and GOAL's Kosovo response. In 2001, he took up an overseas post with GOAL before taking the role of Country Director in South Sudan, and later becoming Country Director in North Sudan, GOAL's largest humanitarian programme with an estimated budget of €20m. Alan left GOAL in 2006 to join International Rescue Committee as Country Director for Sierra Leone, where he spent three years. He then spent a year in the Middle East, as Business Development Manager for Mercy Corps. These experiences allowed him to deepen his understanding of the workings of international organisations around the areas of business development, programme management and policy development. Alan re-joined GOAL in 2010 in his current role with responsibility for new initiatives, partnerships and alliances; new country development, including the management of GOAL's humanitarian and emergency response capacity; and the management of GOAL's institutional funding portfolio. Alan's focus has been to ensure that GOAL is positioned strategically both at country and international level to maximise the impact of GOAL programmes. Rob Lalka is the Director of Strategy and Partnerships for Village Capital. Previously, he was the Senior Advisor for Global Partnerships at the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, where he directed efforts to leverage the foundation's assets through philanthropic-private partnerships. Prior to that, Lalka served in Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Office of Global Partnerships and was a member of her Policy Planning Staff. He co-authored the President's cross-sector partnerships strategy and coordinated partnerships for signature presidential initiatives in the Middle East and Africa, which earned him both the State Department's Superior Honor Award and 31

Meritorious Honor Award. Lalka has co-authored partnership strategies for the United Nations and the World Bank, and he has taught executive-level courses on public-private partnerships to senior policymakers and business leaders from over two dozen countries. He has been a Presidential Management Fellow, a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and a Truman National Security Project Fellow. He graduated from Yale University and holds his master's degree in global public policy from Duke University.

Then I was Vice-Minister of finance in my country, Guatemala, where I was the creator of the Social Investment Fund, that was taken as a model by the World Bank and the UNDP to be replicated in other countries besides the Central American region. Then, I formed my own consulting enterprise and have been working on community development in the rural areas. Now I am working on the creation of a learning impact fund for Guatemala under the financial assistance of USAID project: Feed the Future.

Andy Lieberman is the New Programs Director for Santa Clara University's Global Social Benefit Institute, where he focuses on partnership building and content development. Prior to Mercy Corps, Michael was Co-Founder of Simpa Networks, a venture-backed energy services company with a bold mission: to make modern energy simple, affordable, and accessible for everyone. Simpa sells distributed clean energy solutions on a pay-as-you-go basis to underserved consumers across rural India. Prior to Simpa, Michael led Arc Finance's research into micropayment approaches for financing pro-poor clean energy and water enterprises in developing countries. Michael also served as a strategic consultant to WECARE Solar, targeting off-grid health facilities globally. Prior to Arc, Michael consulted to the social venture capital fund, Acumen Fund, mapping private sector investments across east Africa. Michael was on the founding team of the first nonprofit pharmaceutical company, the Institute for OneWorld Health, whose goal is clinical development and distribution of affordable new medicines for diseases of poverty in the developing world. 33

Graham Macmillan is the Senior Program Officer for Financial Inclusion at the Citi Foundation. He is responsible for leading the Foundation's international portfolio while developing and managing key thought-leadership and innovation investments. Previously, he managed the Foundation's Microfinance and Enterprise Development portfolios. Prior to Citi, Graham was Senior Director of VisionSpring, an award-winning social enterprise selling consumer products to promote economic development, and a Director of Business Development at Helen Keller International, a leading international non-governmental organization. Graham is the 2014 inaugural recipient of the Magis Global Changemaker Award from Santa Clara University. Saadia Madsbjerg joined the Rockefeller Foundation in 2013. As Managing Director, she leads the Foundation's work on Innovation. Her responsibilities include shaping and scaling innovative finance solutions that change the status quo and raise private sector investment capital for the social sector in promotion of the Foundation's dual goals of building resilience and promoting inclusive economies. Before joining the Rockefeller Foundation, Ms. Madsbjerg was the Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). There she led a portfolio of projects focused on transformative opportunities to creating more equitable and resilient growth for New York City. These included game-changing ideas spanning economic diversification, promoting upward income mobility and economic and community development in underutilized neighborhoods. Prior to NYCEDC, Saadia was head of the Strategy and Analytics team for Cisco's TelePresence Technology Group, and an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company. Kershni Maharaj: Head: Selection and Efficacy, Raizcorp, [email protected]

Kershni has a banking background working for a major bank in South Africa for the most of her career spanning over 22 years. She worked in retail, corporate, rural, commercial, credit, branch and private banking. While at the bank, Kershni gained vast experience in sales, strategy, relationship and portfolio management, setting up new businesses, project management of new initiatives, providing innovative solutions to meet market needs 34

and building networking platforms to increase and grow sustainable business opportunities. Her roles included research, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, planning, business case and strategy development and implementation of initiatives and projects that will promote growth, advocacy and loyalty through building engaging partnerships with clients. She was instrumental in the development and implementation of a new Value Proposition for Black Economic Empowerment for the bank. And as a result was appointed as Project Manager and then as Head of the Business Unit. Kershni joined Raizcorp a little over 4 years ago as Head of Selection and Efficacy where she oversees the operational day to day running of the company ensuring that projects and deliverables executed within the business and to our clients are done so in accordance to the processes and policies. She is also responsible for developing key metrics to measure the success of entrepreneurs through the various programmes at Raizcorp. Kershni has a keen eye to detail and is constantly adding policies and processes to the business in order to improve service delivery to all stakeholders. Kershni sits at an executive level in the business.

Paul Malherbe: CEO & Managing Director, ATMS Foundation/AMSCO, [email protected]

Paul Malherbe joined AMSCO in November 2008 as Managing Director and CEO. Prior to joining AMSCO, Paul was head of Mentorship and Consulting Services at Business Partners Ltd, South Africa's leading investor in SMEs, for 5 years. As head of the Mentor Service, he was responsible for technical assistance and mentorship activities, not only to Business Partners clients but also to other corporate institutions (banks, NGO, DFI's) servicing the Southern African SME market. This was preceded by 8 years in the operational division of Business Partners where he was involved in the appraisal and structuring of risk and equity based finance to SMEs. Marcos Mancini: Director of Sustainable Banking, Banorte, [email protected]

Marcos is a sustainability business professional with consulting experience across several industries. He is director of sustainable banking at Grupo Financiero Banorte, the third largest financial institution in Mexico. As part of his work at Banorte, Marcos looks to develop innovative financial products incorporating environmental and social components to them. Marcos is also in charge of developing different approaches for the bank to engage in the impact investing space. He represents Banorte at the Sustainability committee at the Mexican Banking Association and at CESPEDES, the organization representing the World business Council for Sustainable Development in Mexico. Marcos also forms part of the steering committee for the Central America and Mexico chapter at ANDE (Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs). He also teaches the Sustainable Finance module at the Banorte-Ixe / UNAM course. Prior to his current position Marcos focused, as a consultant, on measuring and communicating sustainability value to accelerate the adoption of sustainability, integrating it throughout a company's operations and inspiring strategies to deliver new customers, grow market share and increase profit margins. Jonathan Marks is Head of Impact Assurance at the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation in Cape Town, South Africa. He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business, as well as a Doctorate in Philosophy, focused on entrepreneurship, from the University of Cape Town's faculty of engineering and the built environment. Dr Marks was founding director of the Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development (located at UCT) and was responsible for entrepreneurial knowledge management at the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation. I have been the Executive Director of FundaSistemas since 2005. During the years working in this institution, I realized that my studies in Systems Engineering and my MBA, are necessary but no good enough for having successfull economic development programs and being sustainable at the same time. Therefore my objective is to be connected to new learning networks as ANDE, where we can share our experiences, some good and some not so much. Marina Monteiro is a Veterinary graduated by University of São Paulo (FMVZ-USP/2009) and worked with sales analysis of the livestock sector for three years at a pharmaceutical company. Carol Moore joined the Global Partnerships and Alliances team at Heifer International in 2011. She is responsible for managing a portfolio of partnerships and strategic alliances with corporations, foundations and international NGOs. Carol has 30 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Her career includes senior level fundraising, strategic alliance and management positions with CARE; Emory University Institute for Developing Nations and Rollins School of Public Health; St. Charles Medical Center, Bend, Oregon; and Atlanta International School. Carol served as the first executive director of the Society of International Business Fellows, a private, Atlanta-based association for senior executives engaged in international business, trade and finance. At Heifer International, Carol manages the organization's relationships with Keurig Green Mountain, The MasterCard Foundation, The Coca-Cola Company, Land O'Lakes, PepsiCo, venture”‚dairy, Clinton Global Initiative and the Clinton Foundation. In 2012, Carol led Heifer's first-ever corporate summit, Beyond the Bottom Line: Creating Shared Value through Partnership. Manuela has experience in the consulting, corporate and academic fields and initiated and led various community development initiatives. After obtaining a M.Sc. Her engagement with local slum community initiatives inspired her to build a career driving sustainable solutions for social problems. Tara joined Global Partnerships (GP) in January 2009 and leads strategic research and impact evaluation efforts. Tara has a rich background of academic and professional experience in the areas of poverty, gender and conflict. Prior to joining Global Partnerships, she served as the vice president of development for Ahmsa, a Colombian nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty and creating economic opportunities for the country's most marginalized groups. As a Fulbright Scholar, Tara researched the gender-differentiated effects of the armed conflict in Colombia and provided international support and consulting regarding the socio-economic reintegration of displaced families. In addition to her time in Colombia, Tara has lived and studied in Cuba and Northern Ireland. Tara holds a B.A. in political science from Vassar College and certificate in executive leadership from the Albers School of Business at Seattle University.

Kyle Muther is a consultant at FSG, where he conducts research and analysis to provide clients with strategic insights and tools to effectively leverage their core competencies and achieve greater social impact. Kyle is part of FSG's Global Development and U.S. Health practices. Prior to joining FSG, Kyle interned with MercyCorps' Social Innovations team, where he conducted market research on opportunities to provide farmers with mobile agricultural information and financial services in Indonesia and Uganda. Prior to completing his masters degree, Kyle was a project officer at La Clinica Del Pueblo (LCDP), a community health center, primarily serving immigrant populations in Washington, D.C. At LCDP, he applied for, managed, and helped evaluate grants and contracts supporting La Clinica's HIV, mental health, substance abuse, and health education programs. Prior to La Clinica, Kyle worked with EcoVentures International (EVI), an environmental enterprise development nonprofit. Kyle Muther is a consultant at FSG where he At EVI, he conducted value chain research and analysis related to youth employment and enterprise development opportunities in emerging green business sectors in South Africa, the Eastern Caribbean and Bangladesh. Kyle also worked with the Yanapuma Foundation in Ecuador, helping to strengthen a cocoa farmers association and assisting the foundation to develop its first strategic plan.

Moses Mwaura: President - Enablis Africa Region, Enablis, [email protected]

Moses, 45, is the President of Enablis Africa Region, a Canadian NGO that develops entrepreneurs across Africa and most recently in Argentina (www.enablis.org). He has been in various leadership positions in Enablis in the last seven years including Regional Director for Enablis East Africa, and Chief Operations Officer for Enablis Africa. Previously, for seven years, he was the Managing Director of Multiple Skills Consultants for Africa (MSCA) in Kenya and Rwanda, where he provided leadership on a young CEOs development programme for the region and was on various consultancy and training assignments in Rwanda and Kenya. In the nineties, he was worked as a Management, Information and Corporate Governance Consultant in Kenya for seven years, where he was

involved in both consultancy assignments and in running management-training courses. He is passionate about the potential and future of Africa, and in the development of young leadership to actualise that potential. Moses is a B. Rashmi Nakhooda: Country Director, BeadforLife, [email protected]

Rashmi Nakhooda is the Country Director at Bead for Life Uganda, a non profit organisation that supports women at the bottom of the pyramid to start sustainable micro-enterprises as the route out of poverty. With Headquarters in Boulder, Colorado, BeadforLife has a unique model of sustainable social business. Ms Nakhooda focuses on the organisation's development work in Uganda and is closely engaged with expanding the impact of poverty eradication globally. Previously, she led the Entrepreneurial Program at Bead for Life, working to provide entrepreneurial skills to women and help them start their own businesses. Before joining Bead for Life she has worked in different sectors of the non-profit business world. She worked with Life in Africa, a microfinance institution in Uganda, working with poor entrepreneurs in need of business finance. Aline Wachner is a PhD candidate at Zeppelin University in Germany. She has studied international cultural and business studies at the University of Passau, where she graduated with a master thesis on partnerships between multinational corporations and social entrepreneurs at the base of the pyramid (BoP). Aline Wachner has served as an analyst for a corporate responsibility consultancy in Hamburg and Munich for two years and as an associate at the Grameen Creative Lab, a think tank and accelerator for social businesses initiated by Prof. Muhammad Yunus, for another two years. Since May 2011 she is a doctoral candidate at the Civil Society Center of Zeppelin University and a scholarship holder of the International Research Network on Social Economic Empowerment supported by Siemens Stiftung. Chris Walker directs the Innovative Finance Program at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). In this capacity, he manages partnerships with impact investors to provide equity and debt financing to companies having a positive impact on nutrition, led the development of the Access to Nutrition Index (www.accesstonutrition.org), and designs and develops other initiatives that channel more investment capital into fighting malnutrition. Prior to joining GAIN, Chris was a Fellow with Acumen Fund, a non-profit social venture capital fund. Will Warshauer is the president and CEO of TechnoServe, a nonprofit that works with enterprising people in the developing world to build competitive farms, businesses and industries. He brings more than 25 years of experience in international development and the private sector to his position as President and . He launched his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Sierra Leone and has since worked in 40 developing countries. In his latest role, Will served as chief operating officer of Pact, Inc. and as president of the Pact Global Microfinance Fund – one of the world's largest microfinance institutions – which made over $120 million in loans to poor rural women in 2013. Previously, Will served as executive vice president for health and development solutions with Voxiva Inc., where he led the development of innovative, mobile phone-based health information systems. As a former executive vice president at PSI, he led initiatives such as the development of the organization's global strategic plan and oversaw a $90 million portfolio of health programs in Africa. Will is a regular guest lecturer at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia on topic of social entrepreneurship. He has been a featured speaker at the Net Impact Conference, Harvard's Social Enterprise Conference and the American Marketing Association. And he became skilled in finance and banking with Barclays Bank plc in the UK, Cote d'Ivoire and Australia.
