The first sections of the most modern Serbian highway will be completed in 2022

The Prime Minister of , Ana Brnabic, visited the works on the construction of the Moravian Corridor on the part of Pojate-Krusevac and announced that the first sections on that most modern highway will be finished in 2022. Prime Minister Brnabic, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic and Acting Director of the Corridor of Serbia, Aleksandar Antic, visited the works on the construction of the bridge over the Jovanovacka River and the railway, which will be almost 500 meters long, near Cicevac. She pointed out that she came to check the dynamics of works on that corridor, which is one of the most important in Serbia, since it will be the first digital highway in our country. The bridge will have 15 pillars. So far, 50 piles have been broken and four support beams have been installed, which are the base of the bridge. The deadline for the completion of the bridge is one year, the engineer Ivan Jovanović in charge of the bridges in the “Bechtel- Enka” consortium, told Tanjug. He says that the works are mostly going according to the planned dynamics, as well as that the construction of three more bridges will start on Monday, one over the South and two over the West . The construction of a camp for more than 1,500 workers on 20 hectares near Krusevac is in the final phase. About 50 workers a day are engaged in the construction of the bridge, and about 500 on the entire section. The Moravian corridor, the highway from Pojat to Preljina, will be 112 kilometers long and will connect the area where more than half a million people live. It will connect three districts – , Raska and Moravica, with Corridors 10 and 11. Work has begun on the first section, from Pojat to Krusevac, 28 kilometers long. The Moravian corridor will connect all major cities in between Pojat and Cacak – Krusevac, , Trstenik and Vrnjacka Banja. The most modern highway will be built in central Serbia, “on three Morava”, and within the project, riverbeds in the length of 68 kilometers will be regulated, telecommunication devices will be installed and new technologies will be applied for the first time. The construction of the telecommunication corridor along the highway includes the most modern optical and digital cables, stations for free Wi-Fi internet, the most modern traffic management on the highway, the so-called intelligent transport systems and more. The first digital highway in Serbia will be the widest highway in the country so far, ie it will be 1.6 meters wider than the existing ones. A commercial contract for the construction of the highway from Pojat to Preljina was signed on December 5, 2019, with the American-Turkish company “Bechtel Enka UK Limited” worth 745 million euros. The Moravian corridor will consist of three sections: Pojate-Krusevac in the length of 27.83 kilometers, Krusevac- in the length of 53.88 kilometers and Adrani-Mrcajevci-Preljina The first sections of the most modern Serbian highway will be completed in 2022

in the length of 30.66 kilometers. The highway is being built for a maximum allowed speed of 130 kilometers per hour, and a total of 11 loops and 130 other facilities will be built, of which 71 are bridges, 23 overpasses, five underpasses and 31 culverts, Sputnik News reports.
