Pre-feasibility Report

1. Executive Summary: Sri Sanjay Sadanand Maharajapet of Haveri, Taluk Haveri,, District Haveri has a applied for Quarry Lease, over an area of 3-25Acre (1.468Ha), in the Survey No.71/6 to quarry Building Stone. The Quarrying Lease application which was submitted to the department of Mines and Geology Gadag, has been processed and the said department has Notified the area for Quarry Lease to Sri Sanjay Sadanand Maharajapet of Haveri, to an extent of 3-25Acre, in the Survey No. 71/6 in Chikka-Savanur Village, Taluk, , for 20 years. The sketch (Drg No. 2) showing the demarcated area to be granted under Quarrying Lease was given by the Department of Mines and Geology Gadag, vide letter No.DMG/GDM/Notification/2017-18/1814 dated 16-09-2017. Accordingly Project Proponent has submitted Form-IM, Pre- feasibility report and copy of Approved Quarry Plan from the Department of Mines & Geology Gadag to the District Level Environment Assessment Authority of constituted by MoEF, GoI for issuing Environment Clearance as per EIA September 14, 2006 Notification.

It is a Building Stone Quarry Lease, and copy of Notification from Department of Mines & Geology Gadag is enclosed. ii) Brief description of nature of the project: 2

It is a Building Stone Quarry. Blasted Building Stone is used as building stone, jelly for building construction, roads and Railway track . It is a small project of 3-25acres with production of 40,000 tonnes/annum. iii) Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region: Although the project is small it plays important role in the development of the region and country as building stone and jelly are used for construction of buildings, roads and Railway track. iv) Demand- Supply Gap: There is a good demand for building stone and jelly. v) Imports vs. Indigenous production: Not applicable. vi) Export Possibility: No possibility. vii) Domestic/ export Markets: Nil. viii) Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project. About 15 people will get direct employment and equal number will get indirect employment. 3 Project Description i) Type of project including interlinked and interdependent projects, if any: It is only Quarry and there will not be any interlinked and interdependent projects. ii) Location (map showing general location, specific location, and project boundary & project site layout) without coordinates: Location of the project issued by the Department of Mines & Geology and Toposheet on 1:50,000 is enclosed. iii) Details of alternate sites, considered and the basis of selecting the proposed site, particularly the environmental considerations gone into should, be highlighted:

iv) Size or magnitude of operation: It is only a small scale Building Stone Quarry with production of 40,000 tonnes/annum(maximum)

v) Project description with process details (a schematic diagram/ flow chart showing the project layout, components of the project etc. should be given): It is only Building Stone Quarry, no processing.

vi) Raw material required along with estimated quantity, likely source, marketing area of final product/s, Mode of transport of raw material and finished product: No raw materials required. Broken building stone will be transported by tippers.

vii) Resource optimization /recycling and reuse envisaged in the project , if any, should be briefly outlined: No recycling and reuse of material is envisaged as entire broken building stone will be transported.

viii) Availability of water its source, Energy /power requirement and source should be given: Water will be availed from nearby borewells. No energy /power requirement.

ix) Quantity of wastes to be generated (liquid and solid) and scheme for their Management /disposal : No wastes to be generated (liquid and solid).

x) Schematic representations of the feasibility drawing which give information of EIA purpose: Toposheet on 1:50,000 is enclosed. 4 Site Analysis i) Connectivity: The Lease area is well connected. The area is 1.32 km South of Devihal Village. Shirahatti-Bellatti District Main Road is 0.91 km NE of the area. The Applied area is situated in North at a distance of 1.91 km from Bellatti-Chikka-Savanur PWD Road. Devihal-Hullur Village Road is 1.26 km NW of the area. The Applied area is 15 kms from Shirahatti a Taluk head quarter and 35 kms from Gadag a District head quarter. ii) Land Form, Land use and Land ownership: Land is a Building Stone flat ground. The entire area is non agricultural barren land. It is a Patta land.

iii) Topography(along with map): Land is a Building Stone hillock Toposheet on 1:50,000 is enclosed. iv) Existing land use pattern (agriculture, non agriculture, forest, water bodies (including area under CRZ)), shortest distances from the periphery of the project to periphery of the forests, national park, wild life sanctuary, eco sensitive areas, water bodies(distance from, the HFL of the river), CRZ, In case of notified industrial area, a copy of the Gazette notification should be given:

6 Proposed Infrastructure i) Industrial Area(Processing Area) :Nil ii) Residential Area (Non Processing Area) : Nil iii) Green Belt: Green belt will be developed along Lease boundary & approach road. iv) Social Infrastructure :Nil v) Connectivity (Traffic and Transportation Road/Rail/Metro/Water ways etc) The Lease area is well connected. The area is 1.32 km South of Devihal Village. Shirahatti-Bellatti District Main Road is 0.91 km NE of the area. The Applied 5

area is situated in North at a distance of 1.91 km from Bellatti-Chikka-Savanur PWD Road. Devihal-Hullur Village Road is 1.26 km NW of the area. The Applied area is 15 kms from Shirahatti a Taluk head quarter and 35 kms from Gadag a District head quarter. The nearest railway station is at Gadag which is at a distance of 35 kms from the Applied area. vi) Drinking Water Management (Source & Supply of water) : Water will be drawn from nearby borewells. vii) Sewage System: Will be adopted for toilets viii) Industrial Waste Management : No Industrial Waste ix) Solid Waste Management: No Solid Waste x) Power Requirement & Supply /source : Nil

7 Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R & R) Plan i) Policy to be adopted (Central /State) in respect of the project affected persons including home outstees, land outstees and landless laborers(a brief outline to be given): Not applicable as it is a small project and no persons will be affected. 8 Project Schedule & Cost Estimates i) Likely date of start of construction and likely date of completion(Time schedule for the project to be given): Quarrying will start within a month after getting EC clearance. ii) Estimated project cost along with analysis in terms of economic viability of the project:Estimated project cost is 25.0 lakhs. It is economically viable as it is quarrying of the building stone.

9 Analysis of proposal(Final Recommendation) i) Financial and social benefits with special emphasis on the benefit to the local people including tribal population, if any, in the area.

Quarrying activity improves the economic status of the people working as the area It is a drought prone area and no work will be available for locals. Overall improvement will be expected in local area.
