The only other Colorado quarterback with four 300-yard passing games in a season was Koy Detmer in 1996. Montez is one of only three quarterbacks in the Pac-12 this year to throw for 300-plus in three consecutive outings: UCLA’s Josh Rosen did it in five straight (he has a league high seven 300-yard passing games this year), and Washington State’s Luke Falk also did in three in a row (he and USC’s Sam Darnold have six 300-yard games in 2017). OBSCURE NOTE OF THE WEEK For the second straight year, and the only two times in school history, three different players have at least 500 yards receiving: WR Bryce Bobo (640), WR Shay Fields (623) and WR Devin Ross (508); the same trio did it last year (Fields 845, Ross 765, Bobo 523). Bobo and Fields are just the eighth pair to record 600 or more yards in a single-season. In addition, Bobo (58), Fields (46) and Ross (43) all have 40-plus receptions, just the second time in school annals three players reached the 40 plateau, joining four who did it last year: Ross (66), Fields (52), TB Phillip Lindsay (47) and Bobo (41). 2017 COLORADO SCHEDULE & RESULTS (5-6, 2-6 Pac-12) 2017 Date CU* Opponent Opp* TV Result/Time Record Series This-N-That or ’16 rewind Sept. 1 RV Colorado State (N; Denver) NR PAC12 W 17- 3 7-5 65-22-2 Buffs go up 17-0 early, play first scoreless second half in eight seasons SEPT. 9 RV TEXAS STATE NR PAC12 W 37- 3 2-8 1- 0-0 Second straight game not allowing a TD a first to open a season since 1958 SEPT. 16 RV NORTHERN COLORADO NR PAC12 W 41-21 3-7 10- 2-0 CU wins first meeting with former in-state rival since 1934 game in Greeley SEPT. 23 RV WASHINGTON (N) 7 FS-1 L 10-37 9-2 5-11-1 Game plays out eerily similar to ’16 Pac-12 title game, as UW pulls away in 3Q Sept. 30 RV at UCLA NR ESPN2 L 23-27 5-6 3-10-0 Fourth straight tight game between the two (the four decided by 21 points) OCT. 7 NR ARIZONA (N; FW) NR PAC12 L 42-45 7-4 14- 6-0 Teams combine for 713 rush yards, record 608 by two players (Lindsay: 281) Oct. 14 NR at Oregon State NR PAC12 W 36-33 1-10 5- 5-0 Montez leads 9-play, 82-yard drive for winning score with 1:34 remaining Oct. 21 NR at Washington State (N) 15 ESPN L 0-28 9-2 6- 5-0 Buffs shutout for first time since 2012 (60 games); Lindsay goes over 1K rushing OCT. 28 NR CALIFORNIA (HC) NR PAC12 W 44-28 5-6 4- 5-0 Montez throws for 347 yards and 3 TDs, adds fourth on ground Nov. 4 NR at Arizona State (N) NR PAC12 L 30-41 6-5 1- 8-0 Buffs led for most of the game (nearly 48 minutes), only to see ASU rally late NOV. 11 NR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 15 FOX L 24-38 10-2 0-12-0 Last two games: first half, USC 34-0; second half, CU 41-25 as Trojans prevail Nov. 25 NR at Utah (N) NR FS-1 8:05 p.m. 5-6 32-28-3 Win clinches Pac-12 South title; last six games in series decided by 32 points All times mountain.
