I have a very “West Houston” story. In my time as chairman, the West Houston Association will continue to create and execute a shared vision with our members, regional partners, and public officials. The West Houston 2060 Plan is a very helpful summary of our vision for quality growth and development. It is our charge to keep acting and advocating to achieve the goals set forth in the 2060 Plan. With your help, we can continue to build on the work started by John Moody and many other board members with a focus on continued quality growth across Greater West Houston for the next 40 years.

West Houston 2060 Plan The project began 3 years ago as an update to the 2007 WEST H USTON West Houston Plan 2050 and is intended to be used as a roadmap to building a sustainable, quality future for our -2060- region. The 2060 plan features sections covering: Population & Jobs – Regional Mobility – Water Resources – Flood DEVELOP A BETTER FUTURE Control, Drainage & Wetlands – Education & Workforce Development – Parks, Recreation & Open Space – Quality www.westhouston2060.org Planned Development – Sustainable Infrastructure – Maps & Demographics. Quality Planned Development The QPD seal presented by the West Houston Association and the North Houston Association signifies that a master- planned community or commerical or retail center has met the stringent mandates of superior development found in the trendsetting quality living and working communities in Greater West or North Houston. To the home buyer, retailer, or commercial business, this is a sign that developers are committed to the success of the project, creating a www.qualityplanneddevelopments.com community that will hold its value and be well-maintained for years to come. Developers will find value in holding the QPD designation, as the market has responded enthusiastically to those enterprises that have taken the extra steps to create vibrant, sustainable developments. Sustainability Stars The Sustainability Stars Program recognizes qualified applicants for sustainability efforts in land development and infrastructure in Greater West Houston. This includes Investigation, Investment, Integration into construction, SUSTAINABILITY STARS Inspiration and Innovation. The award winners of the 2017 (very first) Sustainability Stars Award includes: Stonebrook Estates (Investment & Integration), Jersey Meadows Stormwater Detention Basin (Investigation, Investment & Integration) and Bridgelands Purple Pipe and Water Reuse System (Investigation, Investment & Integration). Rising Leaders WHA’s Quality Growth Partners are eligible to nominate someone from their company to participate in our Rising Leaders Program. This programs purpose is to create and grow a network of emerging leaders and mentors within the West Houston Association that will share information and access to enhance understanding and the ability of these RISING LEADERS leaders to make positive changes in West Houston. WHA’s first class of Rising Leaders graduated in March of 2018 and the second class will follow in March of 2019.

State-Wide Resiliency A state-wide, merit-based resilience investment and projects funding initiative to encourage planning and construction of flood mitigation projects. Protect Local Funding Efforts to keep funding decisions and funding options local and predictable to support quality development. Keep Quality Growth Preserving and improving well-regulated and well-tested funding models that have provided reliable formulas for growth, such as special districts, education, state transportation funding initiatives, and state-funded health insurance programs.
