Garfield’s critically acclaimed performance earned him lead actor nominations at the Academy Awards®, Golden Globe Awards®, Screen Actors Guild Awards and BAFTA Awards. That year Garfield also starred in Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of the literary classic SILENCE alongside Liam Neeson and Adam Driver. Garfield’s additional film credits include: Marc Webb’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, which combined grossed over 1.5 billion at the box-office; Ramin Bahrani’s 99 HOMES opposite Michael Shannon and Laura Dern; David Fincher’s THE SOCIAL NETWORK, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe® for Best Supporting Actor; Mark Romanek’s NEVER LET ME GO opposite Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan; Terry Gilliam’s THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. ZFF Main Partner Garfield will soon be seen in A24’s modern noir crime thriller UNDER THE SILVER LAKE, written and directed by David Robert Mitchell. Garfield could last be seen on stage in the UK in the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of Tony Kushner’s ‘Angels in America’ directed by Tony Award®-winning Marianne Elliott. Garfield made his Broadway debut in 2012 in the revival of Arthur Miller’s Pulitzer Prize- winning play ‘Death of a Salesman’, opposite Phillip Seymour-Hoffman and directed by Mike Nichols. His portrayal of Biff Loman earned him a Tony® nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play. BREATHE Based on the true story of Robin Cavendish, BREATHE is a heart-warming and highly emotional celebration of bravery and human possibility, a love story about living every breath as though it’s your last. The film stars Andrew Garfield (HACKSAW RIDGE) as Cavendish and Claire Foy (THE CROWN) as his wife Diana. From a script by twice Academy Award-nominated screenwriter William Nicholson (EVEREST, LES MISÉRABLES and GLADIATOR), Andy Serkis (globally known for his performances including, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS) delivers a hugely impressive directorial debut with this inspirational true story of love without limits. Adventurous and charismatic, Robin Cavendish has his whole life ahead of him when he is paralysed by polio whilst in Africa and given just months to live. Against all advice, Robin’s wife Diana brings him home from hospital where her devotion and witty determination inspire him to lead a long and fulfilled life. Together they refuse to be limited by expectations, dazzling others with their humour, courage and lust for life. The film’s supporting cast members include Hugh Bonneville (PADDINGTON) and Tom Hollander (THE NIGHT MANAGER) as Robin’s devoted, long-time friends. Stephen Mangan (RUSH) and acting legend Dame Diana Rigg (GAME OF THRONES, the original THE AVENGERS) complete the cast, with a soundtrack by the acclaimed composer Nitin Sawhney. The film is produced for The Imaginarium Studios by Jonathan Cavendish (BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY). Financing is from Silver Reel, BBC Films and the BFI, brokered by Embankment Films. BREATHE will be released in Switzerland by Ascot Elite. The full ZFF programme will be unveiled at the Festival press conference on Thursday 14 September. ZFF Main Partner .

  • Text of Speech Given by Jonathan Cavendish at the Unveiling of a Blue Plaque in Memory of Robin Cavendish at Drayton St Leonard on Sunday 16 June 2019
Text of speech given by Jonathan Cavendish at the unveiling of a Blue Plaque in memory of Robin Cavendish at Drayton St Leonard on Sunday 16 June 2019 Welcome everybody to this small ceremony to celebrate the unveiling of a blue plaque in memory of Robin Cavendish. A lot of work and support is required to get a commemorative blue plaque approved and erected, and my mother Diana and I would like to thank the Oxfordshire Blue Plaques board, especially Eda Forbes, and the Drayton St Leonard parish council, especially Edward Hayter, for all their efforts. Before my mother unveils the plaque, I would like to say a few words about my father. Robin and Diana Cavendish went to live in Kenya in the late 50s, following a fairly whirlwind romance. Robin worked as a tea broker. The sun shone, the lions roared, and the ice tinkled in the glass until tragedy struck. Robin contracted polio, was completely paralysed and had to breathe through a ventilator. He was 28, my mother was 24. He was given days, then weeks to live. My mother gave birth to a charming baby – me – and back we came to England. My father was stuck away in the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital in Oxford, and unsurprisingly entered a very deep depression. After about one year in the Nuffield, Robin and Diana made the extraordinary decision to break out of hospital. At that time, 1961, nobody with that severity of disability, entirely reliant on a breathing machine, lived outside hospital. The doctors told him he would be dead in two weeks.

  • Emma Stone Is Dating Spider-Man Co-Star Andrew Garfield
Emma Stone Is Dating Spider- Man Co-Star Andrew Garfield It looks like these co-workers have no problem dating! The Amazing Spider-Man movie brought together an “amazing” spark between co-stars Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, according to UsMagazine.com. “They got close during filming and have been hooking up,” said an anonymous source. However, the two seem to want to keep their relationship private. It turns out that Garfield’s recent three-year relationship with actress Shannon Woodward is still a fresh wound. Why not avoid drama if at all possible? What are the benefits of keeping your new relationship from your ex? Cupid’s Advice: Though the “oo’s” and “aww’s” can be flattering when you and your partner happily expose your relationship to the public, timing is key. Cupid has some thoughts on why keeping your relationship from your ex may be the best thing for now: 1. Army material: Your ex may be ready for a fight. That is, he or she might not be afraid to lash out at your newest love interest. Keep that from happening at all costs. 2. Secrets: We all have secrets, even though sometimes we’d like to forget some of them. Your ex-partner might be feeling bitter and vengeful after your breakup. To keep him or her from being tempted to let loose all of your secrets to your new flame, keep the news of the relationship to yourself for a while. 3. Trust: Building trust is easier for your partner if no worrying is necessary.

Settle in for a summer of ‘reboots’ at the box office By BILL GOODYKOONTZ Gannett Chief Film Critic Published: Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 1:37 p.m. Among the many big-budget blockbusters on tap for this summer is “The Amazing Spider-Man,” which in movie jargon is undergoing what is referred to as a “reboot.” Reboot: A different take on a well-known idea. That’s not surprising. Superheroes are a summer staple, and we’ve already seen a gaggle of them gathered in “The Avengers” so far. And of all genres, the superhero film is best suited for rebooting and remaking. So, fair enough. Except ... wait a second. Didn’t Spider-Man just get a reboot 10 years ago? Yes, yes he did, in Sam Raimi’s film, which was followed by two sequels. So now he needs another? What’s the shelf life of a character, anyway? And how often do we need these things? “Need” isn’t the operative word here. Studios continue to give us what they think we want, and that’s what we get. And while a steady stream of remakes and reboots may grow tiresome and suggest a Hollywood bereft of ideas, one can look no further than Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” films to see that reboots can bear worthwhile fruit.
