Green Notebook AUTHOR’S PREFACE This is a collection of my articles, essays, publications in the press and FB posts from 2014 to the fall of 2017. Sometimes these are abstract texts, sometimes reflections or emotions in response to the flow of events of that time... Those were uneasy years from Euromaidan, victorious Revolution of Dignity through despair and powerlessness of the annexation of the Crimea, seizure of the part of the Donbas, war, grief and valour... Through the formation of emotions of the next period of the historical struggle for in- dependence, national consciousness, through the hard daily work intended to launch global changes. And, which is the most important, it is the change of mentality. Why this period? I think, it needless to explain: over those years there have been so many key turning points in the fate of our country that every day deserves to remain in memory and history. Why these articles, posts and essays? For me, they are all connected with a common flow of events. I neither colored the truth nor papered over the cracks; sometimes the feelings are too strong and style may be clum- sy... Dates, people and destinies... 3 ARSEN AVAKOV I have entitled this collection The Green Notebook by the name of one of my stories, which, I think, expresses the main message of this collection: this is your life and your power to fill an empty vessel. Quincy Jones has run with them all. Chris Heath stays up late with the 84-year-old music legend who has a tale to go with every famous name. ......................................... "I feel like I'm just starting," Quincy Jones explains as he slowly takes a seat in the grand living room of his hilltop Bel-Air mansion, a wide arc of nighttime Los Angeles visible through the windows in front of him. "It seems like at 84 all the things you used to wonder about come clear to you." TRENDING THIS VERY SECOND entertainment Quincy Jones Has a Story About That So he begins. He begins talking about his life. It's a life punctuated by so many disparate encounters and achievements and circumstances that it is hard to believe they are the experiences of a single man. There is a lot of talking to do. 1. The Oscar was awarded in 1994 for his humanitarian work. He won the Emmy for the soundtrack to Roots and the Tony for the revival of the musical The Color Purple. He has won 28 Grammy Awards. There is the career, of course: the jazz musician, the arranger, the record executive, the soundtrack composer, the solo artist, the producer of the biggest pop album in history, the entrepreneur, the media magnate, the film and TV producer, the philanthropist…and on and on. Jones is one of just a handful of people who have accomplished the EGOT—winner of at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. -

The Rock Concert Experience: The Self-Authentication Process and Wellbeing A thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Management Studies at The University of Waikato by Daniel Hopper 2014 Abstract The purpose of this research was to understand consumers’ experiences at rock concerts. Growth in the live concert industry over the past 20 years suggests that these experiences provide value that consumers cannot attain through other means. Music fans can stream rock music or watch concerts without cost, while concert tickets are often over $100 each. Marketers need to understand more about the value derived from the live rock concert experience. The researcher gathered data over a period of six months in 2013, utilising three data collection methods: 1) in-depth interviews with eight participants; 2) observation of nine rock concerts; and 3) analysis of responses to concert reviews on news website Stuff.co.nz. -

Where possible, we’ve backdated data to the same quarter in 2010 to provide context for the current quarter’s results and allow comparison with quarter just gone as well as the equivalent period 12 months earlier. At A Glance… vs Same Quarter Last Year Retail Sales (Physical and Digital) : Sales of Singles by NZ artists were up 4.02% on the same period last year to 154,519 units. (There was +49.39% growth across the physical and digital singles market as a whole). Sales of Albums by NZ artists were up 48.15% on the same period last year to 72,870 units. (There was +3.91% growth across the albums market as a whole). Sales of Compilations by NZ artists were down -27.82% on the same period last year to 8330 units. (There was -9.77% decline across the compilations market as a whole). Sales of DVDs by NZ artists were up 1200.00% on the same period last year to 2860 units. (There was +21.80% growth across the DVDs market as a whole). Radio : Airplay of songs by NZ artists across all contemporary radio (RBA members and non-members) was down -1.08% on the same period last year to 16.59 % (175,502 spins ).
