Memorial Plaque for 1916 Signatory

As part of 1916 Centenary Programme, a memorial plaque to Seán Mac Diarmada will be unveiled at Tullynamoyle National School in . Seán was a signatory of the 1916 proclamation and attended night classes in Tullynamoyle, Dowra in 1904 under the tutelage of Principal, Patrick McGovern. Seán Mac Diarmada was born in 1883 Bellamnt Estate near Kiltyclogher, Co. Leitrim. He was a member of the Irish Rent Book Republican Brotherhood (IRB), was extremely active in the Gaelic League and in 1907 was appointed organiser and director of elections for Sinn Fein in the north Leitrim area.
