Ages: 8-17 Years Stop the presses! Newsies is the tale of Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of “Newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across New York city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right! Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score with classic songs such as “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe.” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family. There are a variety of roles, large and small, to fit all ages and levels of experience. Taught by TVUSD/MVUSD drama, music and dance teachers. Program includes 16 weeks of rehearsals followed by performances in the beautiful Old Town Temecula Community Theater. Auditions will be taught at the first class and no materials or experience is necessary. Not all roles will be required to attend each rehearsal. Instructor will provide a calendar with detailed information for when each participant will need to attend. Extended rehearsals will take place the week of performances.
