Derrick City Sams went to Lake Catherine for the September Campout. We had a very relaxing campout. We explored restaurants at noon time: Texas Longhorn, Bubba’s Brew, Red Oak Station, and Smokin’ in Style. Bubba’s Brew on Lake Hamilton is on Airport Road and was a hit. They had two dining rooms. The bottom is family friendly; the upstairs has a bar and pool tables. We ate upstairs. You can get downstairs without taking the stairs…just park downstairs. When you go, go hungry. If you want dessert...like cake…share. Red Oak Station also got good reviews from those who went. They have been open now for 3 months.

We did have grilled hamburgers and sausage Thursday evening with everyone bringing something to go along with it. The Godwin’s brought their daughter, Crystal, son-in-law Nathan, and new baby, Oliver, plus Nathan’s fa- ther John Hough. Needless to say, Oliver was a hit. The Ainsworth’s also brought friends, Stick and Jo- Ann Payne.

Good Sam Mallards had a great September camp out at Cane Creek State Park in spite of the hot weather. Thursday, the group had a ‘catch up’ party with hot dogs and all the trimmings, and a delightful visit with Tommy and Diane Ferrell; Friday was games all day, and out to eat at Catfish Place at Country Village with Ferrels; Harold and Joyce West and her sister Mary joined in. No Cane Creek weekend is complete without a stop at the Bakery!

Saturday, we were excited to have Shirley Blackwell and Sherry Hoffpauir join us for games and a lunch of lasagna. That afternoon, some enjoyed a Gospel and Bluegrass band concert at the Park Pavilion. We came back to camp for a dessert of hot apple pie and ice cream and Hobo cake.

Sunday, after a casserole breakfast Pat Collier led the devotional, Juanita Hutchinson led the prayer and singing, and Dan- ny Hutchinson led the chapter meeting. Much discussion, and all agreed they were very displeased with the remark of the CEO of Camping World. After the business meeting, members played games until time to head home. A big “Thank You” to hostess Pat Collier for a great weekend.

Six rigs represented the Melon City Sams at the campout at White Oak Lake SP in September. The chapter meeting was called to order by President Calvin Stovall. Betty announced the chapter officer nominating committee appointed in August had asked the current slate of officers to serve another year; the members agreed and elected the same folks by acclama- tion. The slate of officers for 2019 will remain the same as for 2018. Donations to the Hempstead County Closet were col- lected - girl's pajamas and underclothes -and cash totaling $70.00. Chapter dues were collected from those present, and the ballot for the nomination of new State Directors beginning in 2020 was discussed. Election results will be announced at the Arkansas Good Sams Rally next April. Saturday morning's scheduled breakfast outdoors didn't take place when rain moved into the area; but a late lunch was eaten that afternoon at What's Cookin' in Camden.

The October campout is at Crater of Diamonds SP, beginning on the 4th, and will be hosted by Julia Imler and Ruth Ann Hairston. Cypress Valley RV Park in Jefferson, TX will be the site of the final campout of 2018, beginning November 28th.

Arkansas One members traveled down I-30 together in the rain to camp with members of other chapters at the Area 6 Friendship campout at Texarkana RV Park. We pulled in to the park and ASDs Girtie and Tom were waiting for us along with Bill & Dee Nery and Mike & Mary Ann Hancock. We enjoyed visiting with each other and seeing friends again. Some of the other chapters included Rock City Sams, Whispering Pines, Melon City Sams, and Belle Point Sams. There were card games and a corn hole tournament on Tuesday. Added excitement was a motorhome fire in the park, with fire trucks, smoke, and major damage, but no injuries. A 3000 piece puzzle kept many of us searching for pieces for days. We finally got the border completed, but not much of the inside. It is neatly packaged and ready to start again at the Rally in the spring. Thursday morning was an outside poor man’s golf tournament. After lunch was the Chinese auction, with lots of goodies, and a live auction, too. The evening meal was a trip to Old Tyme Burgers for a catfish dinner with fries, hush puppies, beans, slaw, and their good homemade pie. Our business meeting was on Wednesday afternoon. Details are in the minutes. Judy Larson posted lots of good pictures on her Facebook page and on the Arkansas Good Sam page. Thanks Girtie and Tom for a great time.

On Friday, September 21, 3 rigs from Spa City Sams met at Mill Creek Ranch Resort in Canton, TX . The weather was rainy for the first couple of days, but we made the best of it. We ate at the Dairy Palace a couple of times. It was nearby and very good food and service. On Sunday we played Mexican Train in the pavilion near our campsites at the resort. Since there were 7 of us it was an all-afternoon game. We had a lot of fun.

We went shopping for “yard art” at a few of the shops before the First Monday crowd started arriving. We had lunch at But- termilk’s. It was wonderful! The chicken fried steak was perfect. Tuesday, the guys all loaded up in Jimmy’s truck to head to Mineola to drop Bill off for a treatment and then geocache until Bill was finished. The ladies went to Paul Michael’s to shop then stopped at the street taco place at the entrance to the resort for a “light lunch”. The street tacos were delicious. We played Quixx in the pavilion until it was time to get supper ready. Angie brought out our Chapter scrapbook to show us her handy-work. It’s a wonderful representation of our Chapter’s year. We held our meeting Wednesday then went to the Morton Salt Museum in Grand Saline, TX.

Thursday some of the men took Bill to his treatment in Mineola then went off to geocache and the rest of us went to First Monday Trade Days and shopped till we dropped. The RV resort has a shuttle that took us to the gate and picked us up in the afternoon. That was very convenient.

Our next campout is at Lake Catherine October 15-19. November luncheon is Nov. 15 @ World Buffet on Albert Pike at 11am December Christmas gathering is December 6 at Smokin in Style 11-3
