A 16-'page booklet "Finding Arkansas Ancestors ", by Dr. James S. Upton, has been pub­ lished by the Arkansas Genealogical Society. Dr. Upton, president of AGS, wrote the booklet for young people and beginners in genealogical research. The booklet contains,,' instructions on where to find family information, lists research mat,erial avai1able at the Arkansas History Commission in Little Rock, and contains a list of pubhr.aUons which would be helpful to the genealogist doing research in Arkansas. The center section of the booklet is a Pedigree Chart on which the researcher can list his ancestors back four generations. The booklet also contains charts for listing brothers and sisr.ers of parents and grandparents. The booklet sells for fifty cents and can be ordered from the Arkansas Genealogical Society, Box 587, Conway, Arkansas. Dr. Upton has donated all proceeds from the sale of the booklet to the Arkansas Genealogical SocIety.

ANNUAL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 13th IN CONWA Y

The annual meeting of the Arkansas Genealogical Society is scheduled to be held Sunday, October 13th in Conway at the Silas D. Snow Fine Arts Cent0r on the campus of State College of Arkansas. Time for the meeting is 1:00 p. m. Speakers for the, meeting will be Mrs. Albert L. Waring of Hughes, Arkansas; Mrs. Lawrence Newton of Hampton, Arkansas; and Dr. H. L. Minton of Conway, Arkansas. Program chairman for the meeting is Miss Annie Laurie Spencer of ElDorado, vice­ president of AGS. Dr. Upton, president of AGS, will serve 3.5' master of ceremonies.

"METHODISTS IN FA YETT EVI LLE " PUBLISHED BY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Deane G. Carter is the author of a new book "Methodists in Fayetteville ", jointly pub­ lished by the Washington County Historical Society and the Central United Methodist Church of FayetteVille, Arkansas. The history covers 136 years, from the start of the Methodist Church in Fayetteville, through 1:0 1968 when there are five congregations, the Assembly and the Wesley Foundation. Much emphasis is given to the early days and the pioneers who built the church and the com­ munity. Mr. Carter had used journals, diaries, letters and rare and out-of-print books to make up this history and includes a summary of pastors, elders, and members for reference. The book contains more than 130 pages, including 12 picture pages, 81/2 by 11, with enameled cover. PrIce of the book is $2.00 plus 25~ for postage and mailing. AGS RECEIVES TWO BOOKS FOR LIBRARY Two books on North Carolina wills have been donated to the Arkansas GenealogicalSoci­ ety by Mrs. E. M. Venable of Dallas, Texas. The books are: "North Carolina Wills and Inveni.ories", published in 1912, and "Abstract of North Carolina Wills" published in 1910. The books were donated by Mrs. Venable as a memorial to Mrs. Annie Robinson Davis of Plummerville, Arkansas; who died March 19, 1968. This book had been on the best seller lists for several weeks and is now being made into a movie starring and . James Alison Love was born in Virginia ca 1748, died in North Carolina in 1821. His first wife's name was Elizabeth; he had several sons by this wife, among them Jonah who m. Mary Garmon. His second marriage was to Easter Carraker, by whom he reared three sons and one daughter: Darling, Pleasant, Hartwell and Sarah. Sarah and Hart-well were twins. 1. Darling Love was born in Cabarrus Co., N. C., Aug. 19, 1815, d. July 21 (or 31), 1881. He was married April 3, 1833 to Cerena Little, b. Dec. 31, 1814, d. Oct. 27, 1895, dau. of Daniel Little and Mary Honeycutt Little. Daniel Little was born in Cabarrus Co., N.C. Jan. I, 1790, died in 1874. Mary Honeycutt Little was born in Montgomery Co., N. C. Mary Honeycutt Little died rather young and Daniel Little married a second time and had three sons and seven daughters by his second wife. Darling and Cerena Little Love moved to Pope Co., Ark. in 1838 and settled about three miles east of Russellville on what is now Highway 64. They later moved near Norristown, two miles southwest of Russellville, and in 1853 moved to Halla Bend township about ten miles southeast of Russellville, where they lived the remainder of their lives. The old residence with some acreage was inherited by Madred L. Morton and retained in the family until 1945. Darling and Cerena Love had five sons and four daughters:

A. James Alison Love, born in Cabarrus Co., N. C. (no date), killed in the Civil War at Oak Hill or Wilson Creek, near Springfield, Mo., Aug. 10, 1861. He was married to Nannie Blair of Johnson Co., Ark. No known children. B. Lorenzo Dow Love, born in Cabarrus Co., N. C. , killed in the Civil War in Yell Co., Ark. near Dardanelle, Dec. 12, 1864. C. Hartwell Spain Love died of illness, December, 1962 on Van Darn's retreatfrom Cane Hill, Ark. Had married Sarah B. Garmen. No children. D. Calvin McDaniel Love, born March 8, 1842, died Oct. 19, 1896. He served through the Civil War and returned to Pope Co., where he m. Susan Saloma Darr of Atkins. They reared two sons and three daughters: 1. Etta Alison Love, b. Nov. 11, 1867; m. Tucker Biggers, Atkins, Ark., who died Dec. 18, 1945. They reared three daughters: a. Rhea Biggers, lived in Memphis, Tenn. b. Opal Biggers, m. A. J. Croom; had one daughter who operates a store in Springdale, Ark. Opal died Mar. 8, 1932. c. Sybil Biggers, m. E. C. Gorham, Atkins, Ark. No children; lives Colorado. 2. Edgar Osgood Love, b. July 16, 1869, Russellville, Ark.; d. Oct. 17, 1933, at Tyrone, Okla; m. Sidney Blanche McFarland, b. Dec. 3, 1869, d. Mar. 23, 1945, from Henry Co., Tenn. They reared one son: a. Robert Earl Love, b. Mar. 17, 1895, palmer, Texas, m. Emma Louise Wray, b. Jan. 20, 1899 at Bliss, Okla. They have a son and a daughter. John Gammill married Nancy Kilpatrick; place and date of birth unknown, but he lived at one time in Pennsylvania. He had three sons: John, Robert and Israel, and perhaps other children. John, Jr. went west, no other record. Robert lived near Columbus, Ga. After his death, his widow went to live with her people. They had one son, Marion, and a daughter. Israel Gammill was born Aug. 21, 1788, died July 12, 1878 at Lafayette, Ala., buried in old Macedonia Cemetery. He married Nancy Smith, date of birth unknown, died May 30, 1844. ROBINSON My father was Wm. Ghroom Robinson, b. July 6, 1859, son of James Han'ey Robinson, b ..June 22, 1828. He married Mary (Polly) Plumley, ,Jan. 24, 1857, and died Mar. 1, 1902. The family was formerly from N. C.; a family of eight boys; four sons came to Ark., two to the Harrison area and two to where Little Rocki.s now. PATTERSON'S BLUFF, ARK. I am seeking information on the history of an abandoned settlement in northern Logan Co., approximately five _miles west of the present town of Morrison Bluff. I visited the area this year in search of the burial place of my gr-grandfather Greenfield and of a son of my gr-gr­ grandfather Hampton. The cemetery is fairly easy to find, although completely overgrown with trees and undergrowth, but I found no visible signs of the settlement itself.
