Job Description (NYC Residency is required within 90 days of appointment) DoITT provides for the sustained, efficient and effective delivery of IT services, infrastructure and telecommunications to enhance service delivery to New York City's residents, businesses, employees and visitors. As the City's technology leader, DoITT is responsible for ma intaining the foundational IT infrastructure and systems that every aspect of City life from public safety to human services, from education to economic development crossing the full spectrum of governmental operations.

The successful candidate will serve as a UNIX/LINUX Patch Management Lead reporting to the Infrastructure division. Responsibilities will include: • Technical patch deployment plans, work with other technical staff to coordinate patching activities, recommend and implement new pa tching strategies a nd technology; • Follow and document procedures related to Systems Administration of ORACLE Solaris and REDHAT Linux environment; • Respond, track, and escalate systems security incidents; perform system patch deployments and maintenance; upgrades and patches; • Follow cha nge management a nd configuration management procedures and guidelines; • Monitor system security; • Perform system administration duties such as installations, configurations, troubleshooting, kernel tuning, user access a dministration, system tuning, hardware configuration, a nd fine gra in a ccess control; • Ha ndle special projects and initia tives a s assigned. Minimum Qualification Requirements 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area, and four years of satisfactory fulltime experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, or administrative duties in a voice and/or data telecommunications or closely related electronics planning, management, and/or service organization, one year of must have been in a highly specia lized capacity and 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity or in the supervision of staff performing work in the voice and/or data telecommunications field; or 2. An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent, scientific, technical, electronic or related area and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" a bove. However, a ll ca ndidates must have least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of the specialized experience as described in "1" above and must possess the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Preferred Skills The preferred ca ndidate should possess the following: • 3-5 years’ experience in in-depth installation, configuration, a dministration a nd tuning Solaris Unix servers and Linux virtual instances; HP VMWare Virtualization; RHEL Linux 5.x / 6.x / 7.x / 8.x; experience working in large scale environments. Perform tasks with no or minimal supervision (when required); • Knowledge of RedHat Satellite Server, Bla delogic, BMC Remedy, Ansible Automation, AWS/Azure, etc; • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytic, organization, presentation, customer service and fa cilita tion skills; • Ability to ma nage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
